People taking pictures of your home?

I get using public facilities to photograph something in public but what about putting it on the internet? Additionally, what about the issues associated with the high profile people who have security? Is there an exception?

Why wouldn't you be able to post a picture of a house on the internet? The photo is owned by the photographer who took it.

High profile people who have security live behind gates for this reason.

Many high profile people in this area do not have gates and are definitely at risk when people post where they live or what amounts to a map to their house.

I happened to be standing by the window looking out and the car was slowly driving around the circle, and then stopped in front of our driveaway. I thought it was a delivery, but then noticed the back passenger window was down and the young girl was either taking a video or photos of our house.

It does concern me, our house can't help real estate agents with the local comparables as it is a new built. There is nothing historically remarkable about the house, typical Classic homes house.
What other reasons could there be?

They could be looking at what type of new construction can be built in a neighborhood, maybe they are builders or investors or even owners who want to build a new home on their lot in the same area. I sometimes take pictures of homes that are interesting to me as I am researching re-build options. Especially if a new build is on a similar lot as mine in the same neighborhood. It's more about "look what type of house you can build", and maybe try to find the info on the builder. I am also fascinated about the build process itself and take photos of homes being constructed on the similar topography as mine (which is a bit challenging). Contractors working on homes sometimes post signs advertising themselves and people interested may take a photo of the signs. I never realized people may find this creepy, but oh well, it's in public view and fair game IMHO

Assessors have to drive around and photograph houses. When you're buying a home and the assessment comes in, where do you think the pictures of comps come from?

Also, if I'm redoing any aspect of the front of my house, I will drive around and look at colors/options everyone else has chosen. If it is pertinent, I'll take a picture.

People take pictures of famous houses all the time. People live in the Painted Ladies and people have been photographing them forever. I really, really don't understand what the issue is here.

Someone walked through the neighborhood, took pictures of private homes and then distributed it to the world. As it happens, it’s a pretty good roadmap to the home of one of the most threatened people in the US. Absent that it’s still troubling but I now understand that it’s permissible.

Let me introduce you to Google Maps Street View…

If you do not want a house to look like England, put out an American flag and a pink flamingo. Problem solved.

Not mine. I blocked it, which anyone can choose to do.

Bought my house before Zillow so the info the website is incorrect, and there are no photos of the home’s interior.

Who? Brett?

If he does not like it, he can move to a more secure location in Potomac.

I’d be flattered. Let me guess you live on the hill and someone who’s name starts with a C did it?

Realtor? Redfin? Or your neighbor took a pic of your house in the background and posted online. Or not - It’s likely not online anywhere.

But really why would you even care!? Unless it’s posted your name and that it’s yours and the exact address.

DP. That’s what I’m saying. Why would you even care? Unless you buy a 30 acre property in the country in the middle of nowhere, your home is most likely easily visible and accessible.

Nobody is worried or thinking about you.

You’d be surprised the number of public people listed in the white pages. It’s not terribly hard to get most people’s address.
