Absolutely, yes! Some of the drivers go way over speed limit, and scare me to death with their speed.

I remember the weird thing people had about cabs and seatbelts. I lived in NYC in the early 2000s and I felt like I was the only person who religiously put on a seatbelt in a taxi. It never made any sense to me that people felt like they wouldn’t crash in a taxi?

Yes. In MD, it is illegal tonride in the backseat without a seatbelt. I'd be asking the driver to assume more of a legal risk.
