For the non-Catholic, private schools, do families get a break for a second, third, fourth, etc. child enrolled at the same time, or do families need to pay full tuition for each child?

Jeez how can catholic schools afford to have such low tuition???? My kids were in secular privates in New York around 2015-2021 and we were paying in the high 30s low 40s. I assume catholic schools were likely 1/3rd of that. Who’s paying the other costs? The pope???

The better Q is why do so many schools cost so much? Especially the “progressive“ ones?

Over $50k for preK? Why?

Good question. Definitely isn’t due to high salaries because private teachers make a pittance compared to public.

Every school has their own philosophy and formula for setting tuition levels. Some schools spread the costs equally among all grades while other keep it lower in the younger grades. Either way, the tuition is at best 85% of the actual cost of the child’s education.
