Wow, that seems personal, Susan. |
As mom to a sweet little Susie, can we please not make Susan the next Karen. It seems more like a Donna thing anyway. |
https://poshmark.com/listing/Gucci-Bumble-Bee-Belt-654e9817fb730412081efe0a There are loads of them on secondhand sites! I have no way of knowing if these are real or not but maybe worth a try. |
| Hmmm. I imagine your investment portfolio has moved multiples of that amount in a single day. You can afford it obviously. |
| Don’t quibble about fakes. When the luxury brands are importing poorly paid Chinese labor into Italian sweat houses and the replica factories are putting more effort into QC than whoever’s in charge at Chanel, it becomes a distinction without a difference. Pay what you think the bag is worth and be happy. Whether you find that price at Tysons II, or the Real Real, or Taobao, it’s all the same materials and labor at this point. |
|
Never mind the income. Go get it. What I'm wondering is what makes you want one and what makes me not want one or anything similar.
I must be depressed. |

Your primate brain knows that your lizard brain desire for the bag is wrong, and you won't be happier having bought it. Maybe you're subconsciously embarrassed about the image it puts out of you as a superficial status-chaser. It's moments like these when you decide who you really are. It's a little bit of self-discovery and a little bit exercise of free will, as the angels and devils of your nature struggle for control. This is exactly it. It's an existential problem. Who are you? Are you a person who carries a $3K bag? My net worth is higher than yours, and I am not a person who carries a $3k bag. But I am a person who spends $600 on a Bottega bag from the Real Real, because I like the quiet luxury and classic quality. This is why I don't have breast implants. Because I don't want to be (or rather I am NOT) the person with breast implants. |
This. Let’s all agree that it’s rude to use someone’a name as an insult. I’m related to a Karen, a Kevin, and a Rebecca. It’s just so, so rude. Unless you are volunteering your name to be the new insult, just stop. |
| If you don’t have any credit card debt and can spare the cash, buy it. |
YOLO but seriously, buy a non brand good quality alternative and use rest of the money to buy a nice wool coat, a supple cashmere sweater and a silk dress. |

I agree with this. I think shops like realreal are great for clothes. But for bags, I would just rather pay full price and get what I want. Most of the really cut price designer bags are either a bit worn out or aren’t a design that most people like. Also, I am hard on my bags - I buy expensive but I expect them to last me a long time with frequent use. I don’t like to have a lot of bags on my closet. |
This. You don’t “justify” a purchase like that cause there is just no justification. You want it, you can afford it, You just buy it. |
I justified it by buying something that had major zippers and pockets crafted well. I will never need another one again. I can afford whatever I want however not need to buy 10 by one . |
| It’s justified when I send a link to DH and it ends up in my closet. |
