My income is $300,000 and NW is about $4 M. I’m nearing retirement but not ready yet. I would like to buy a $3000-$4000 bag. I have a few other bags and designer item but nothing that expensive, and usually don’t buy high end stuff. I would not say I NEED this bag at all but I would like it. I can’t seem to find a less expensive alternative bag that is not a $100 Chinese fake of some sorts. The middle level designers don’t have something quite what I’m looking for.
How do you justify buying something this expensive? |
|
Why are you tying yourself in knots over this, OP? Just buy it already. |
| I don’t need to justify anything. If I really like it and it won’t dent my pocketbook I buy it. But I don’t have many splurges. |
|
You can afford it, just buy it.
Alternately, set up alerts on designer consignment sites and see if it pops up - can be a super way to get what you want at like 20% of the cost. |
| lol yes you can afford it. Life is too short. There, you have permission. |
Which bag, boo? |
| Just don't do it. Your consternation is too much |
| You are a rich lady. That being said you can get it cheaper on the Real Real. |
| Have you turned on the news lately? Yolo. Just buy it. |
|
You can obviously afford it and it sounds like there's a specific one that you have your eye on and will be satisfied once you have that one (not that you couldn't afford to have several if that became your thing)
When I'm considering expensive purchases I often think about something my granny told me. She always wanted a green jag (and had enough money for it) but never bought one. I asked her why not and she said "because I know that once I had it, I'd quickly moving on to longing for the next thing". Some things we buy and continue to treasure, others give us a quick hit thats gone before you know it - it sounds like this is the former for you |
| What do you mean justify? |
| WFT kind of humble brag is this? Are you seriously on here bragging about how tight you are with money? Just buy the damn bag. |
+1 what's to justify? it's your money - you get to decide how you want to use it. in your situation i wouldn't think twice about spending that money. |
| I bought a $3000 bag when I decided to quit my $60k a year soul sucking part time job. Paid off credit card that month. $5m nw. |
| I don’t understand how you can live like this. Do it or don’t do it. Take charge. |
