I remember when the daughter cousin Mary Ellen Ingalls went blind. Those episodes were genuinely frightening. Didn't she wake up screaming?

Yo7 hi conflated two characters.

Mary Ellen was the eldest daughter on The Waltons

Mary Ingalls was the older sister of Laura Ingalls in Little House on the Prairie. She became blind due to scarlet fever.

I had Scarlett fever in 4th grade in the 1970s. My mom made a big deal about it. That show frightened me.

And the blonde girl with the pigtails was so mean.

Nelly Olson!

The actress who played her is 62 now.

I'm a Gen-x'er who loved this show and I remember being so shocked to learn that the actresses that played Laura and Nellie Olsen were and are close friends in real life!

It's like the actor who played Draco on Harry Potter is the nicest guy. Or the same with the actor who played Joffrey on GoT.

The Cosby Show and Family Ties were wholesome shows that depicted various teachable moments with good parenting from a dual income household.

I wish they didn't cancel the Cosby show to punish Bill Cosby.

The Cosby Show (and A Different World) were amazing, positive, entertaining shows that practically raised a generation of kids.

I was reading an article about one of the supporting actors who lost a big source of income when the show was canceled. All of the actors, not just Bill Cosby, lost their residuals. It was a steady stream of income for them, and it all disappeared when hollywood cancelled Bill Cosby.

I hope the show eventually returns to TV.

No we do not. Never

You have no brain cells?

Should we bring back little house on the prairie too?

What is wrong with you?
Absolutely!

The books and the television series.

The Little House on the Prairie books are beautifully written, timeless classics that were cancelled by people who probably never read them.

They should be in every classroom and Laura Ingalls Wilder should be covered in every elementary school.
We bought "The Waltons on DVD and are watching them weekly with our 5th grader and 3rd grader. We visited Schuyler VA last summer to put it into geographic context. Also bought the 1970s version of "All Creatures Great & Small and use it also as family viewing.

Thanks for the correction. At first I thought you were referring to the town strumpet on “Gunsmoke.”

Heartland is an excellent family drama with real world situations, yet always leaves you feeling good. One of the best family drama's in decades. Is suitable for all ages.Filmed in Alberta, gorgeous filming and very real situations-though they do take place on a ranch with horses and cows, nice escape for urban dwellers.Lots of seasons-up to 19 at this point. One of the most popular streaming shows. Can watch on streaming services or easy to get the DVD's on loan from the library.Cannot recommend it highly enough.Try season 1-you will be totally hooked.
