You don’t need to wear designer clothing and flashy diamond jewelry to be wealthy.

Lol—what are you talking about? There’s only one indisputable member of the Big 3. No one ever questions that particular school’s status.
NCS and STA’s Big 3 status is debatable.

The only debate has ever been whether they take up one slot or two in the rankings since a student is only eligible to attend one or the other.

Those are two separate and distinct schools, so GDS disagrees with you. Maret would also like to have a word.

How can someone disagree with me when I didn’t specify a position? Unless you are disagreeing that a debate exists, in which case, you are proving yourself wrong.

For the record, I agree that NCS and STA are two distinct schools. So maybe GDS and Maret should revisit how they teach students about things like logic and assumptions.

You’re confused. Someone upthread posted that there is only one indisputable member of the Big 3. I grudgingly agree. The debate is who occupies the other two spots? GDS, STA, Maret, or NCS? Potomac and Holton have also been known to join the debate.

Btw, I think GDS is a member of the Big 3, or the distinction doesn’t make sense. That means STA, NCS, and Maret have to duke it out.

STA and NCS were members of the Big 3 long before Sidwell. Growing up here the only Big 3 that have ever been and always will be are:

STA, NCS, and Sidwell - (oldest establishment schools are NCS and STA and have always been - they are part of the Washington National Cathedral - where president's inauguration services and funerals are held. They are the most establishment schools in the area. No I did not attend any of them but I like facts and truth.

NCS normally does not start posting until February…

Sidwell is posting on Instagram.

That account is run by students. Same admonition as above, not everyone reports. By the end of the year, maybe 60% of the class.

The Big 3 is not based on age alone. Impact and reputation are the most important. GDS is a Big 3 school.

You’re expressing your opinion, not facts. Sidwell is older than NCS and STA. in fact, it’s the oldest independent school in Washington, DC.

While a few President's inauguration services and funerals may have been held at the National Cathedral (not STA nor NCS), sitting Presidents children have attended Sidwell since President Roosevelt’s administration.

Why are we arguing about this?
I think it's GDS, Sidwell, NCS, STA simply because they all teach and grade similarly. We could call them "Big3" or anything you wish but the purpose for lumping them together into a cohort is simply to indicate that their academics and the student experience is similar.

Maret is a far easier/more relaxed school. Holton is known to be easier too (by parents who have had kids at both).

Is it true that GDS doesn't give grades? I know our private K-8 school didn't give grades until 6th grade. They gave out grades like progressing satisfactorily, consistently meeting expectations, needs improvement, etc.

literally no one outside of this anonymous forum gives a single crap about Big 3 but the SFS booster(s) always comes out swinging their proverbial d**k around (we are the only “indisputable” member of this self-proclaimed Big 3) it is gross and sorry if that hurts your sweet Quaker feelings.

You people are pathetic and insecure.

Calm down. It's all anonymous information at the end of the day. People in this group take college admissions information wayyyyyy too seriously.

Not sure about the Cathedral schools, but by all accounts, BIM is doing really well so far this year with ED. On par with the schools it’s bumped out of the Big 3 over the past few years.

GDS HS gives grades. I don't know about before (but I think maybe no?)

From the Instas it appears this year's results are leaving much to be desired.
