How are Big 3s doing with ED?

The only (indisputable) Big 3 school is doing quite well. Hint: This is the only Big 3 that is currently posting results on IG.

So gross how people basically commodify these kids in the name of college admissions.

The OP asked a question, and the PP provided an answer.

Why are you reading this thread if you find it so objectionable? And why are you using words like “ew” and “gross” at your advanced age? Grow up!

I love how PP is trying to goad NCS and STA into posting Instagram results.

You don’t need to wear designer clothing and flashy diamond jewelry to be wealthy.

Lol—what are you talking about? There’s only one indisputable member of the Big 3. No one ever questions that particular school’s status.
NCS and STA’s Big 3 status is debatable.

I don't understand why everyone is so obsessed with ED/SCEA results. It's just a snapshot and is skewed towards athletes/big donors/etc. My DD was a 2024 NCS grad. The early results weren't amazing (lots of deferrals) and there was lots of commentary about that. However, once all of the RD results were in (and RD is supposedly more difficult, right?), NCS 2024 did great! (I don't recall exactly, but out of a class of 70 there were at least 2 Harvard, 2 Yale, 2 Princeton, 1 Penn, 1 Brown, 2 Cornell, 1 Dartmouth, 1 Duke.) Focusing on the December results is premature and silly.

Yeah the early results are mostly a function of sports. You can’t really judge results until April. At our school, a higher percentage of fancy schools are posted in April rather than in the early days which are more skewed toward a few schools that emphasize ED admissions and then the sports kids.

Getting out my bingo card. Center square is always “Who is the big x?” Then we have the insecure SFS parent, the parent who claims their kid is somehow disadvantaged by being at a pricey private, the parent who says they aren’t obsessed but knows the exact Ivy stats of her kid’s school, etc.

Two squares already. Keep ‘em coming!

The only debate has ever been whether they take up one slot or two in the rankings since a student is only eligible to attend one or the other.

Instagram pages are run by kids and STA kids have never posted a public page. The results are sent out to those that need to know in the summer - individualized list of every student. Current Parents, Curren students, former parents, alums, board members, and anyone else affiliated with the school receives a copy. That pretty much covers anyone that needs to see it. Nosy people on DCUM do not need to know.

Those are two separate and distinct schools, so GDS disagrees with you. Maret would also like to have a word.

How can someone disagree with me when I didn’t specify a position? Unless you are disagreeing that a debate exists, in which case, you are proving yourself wrong.

For the record, I agree that NCS and STA are two distinct schools. So maybe GDS and Maret should revisit how they teach students about things like logic and assumptions.

You’re confused. Someone upthread posted that there is only one indisputable member of the Big 3. I grudgingly agree. The debate is who occupies the other two spots? GDS, STA, Maret, or NCS? Potomac and Holton have also been known to join the debate.

Btw, I think GDS is a member of the Big 3, or the distinction doesn’t make sense. That means STA, NCS, and Maret have to duke it out.
