People's lack of underwear does not distract me. I'm not looking at their crotches while practicing. Weird moaning absolutely is distracting. |
Wow, no. That is not how breathing in yoga works. |
Are you all particularly sensitive, or am I going to all the wrong yoga classes??? No one makes weird noises and foul farts in the classes I've attended. |
It absolutely is. |
+1 I have been to different yoga classes over the years and have never experienced any of these. |
Once a week, I have to go to a class about 5 min later to get a kid to school first. I’m not missing a class I love over 5 min late. The instructor knows and is fine with it. |
Name your studio. We'll all be signging up soon. Stay away from Sun and Moon in Arlington - rich moaners and farters. |
Rude and distracting to the rest of the class. Drop your kid off earlier. |
Sorry, no. It’s up to the studio and instructor…this isn’t yoga btw. Plenty of people come late to my yoga classes as well as others. |
Then why are you commenting on a yoga thread? ![]() |
At studios maybe, because people have realized that one form of exercise is not enough and boutique/studio fitness is expensive. At my gym yoga classes are full. |
When I'm taking a class, the people that tiptoe in almost silently during centering are 100% fine. It's the ones who stomp through, ask others to move over, throw their mat down, etc. that are clueless and seem annoying/problematic. But, really, it is the studio at fault. They should be controlling this. When I teach, I don't let latecomers in the room until centering is done and movement is about to begin. |
+1 Part of yoga is mental discipline and focus. You complainers apparently could use some work on that. Perhaps your gross yoga class would be the perfect opportunity to do that. |
Why are you looking? You should be focused on yourself. Find some other place to look if you're stuck behind a guy going commando. |
Yoga is a Sanskrit word and means “unite” for the purpose of trying to join the mind, body and spirit. It’s interesting how most of the comments are focused on the physical aspects of the practice and what bothers them about other people’s practices.
People come to yoga for different reasons. Personally, in this part of my life (50s), I am more focused on the breathing and centering aspects versus when I was younger (20s) and interested in twisting my body into different shapes. It’s taught me a lot about having more compassion for myself and others. I hope all find the practice that works for them and take care. |
