DARCARS Automotive Group recently donated $230,000, wiping out the debt of many families. Even with that help, according to Montgomery County Public Schools, families have amassed about $1.36 million in school lunch debt. |
| Ugh. Lunch should be free for all students. If Walz can do it for Minnesota there's no reason Moore can't get it done here. |
I love that! |
What does it actually mean to the system and the county for this "debt" to be amassed. And how does this $230,000 get applied to this debt and not something else in the system? |
| Does mcps actually deny meals to.kids with a balance? |
No. There might be restrictions in middle/high school though, where there are alternative options, like fries as a side dish or whatever. Kids can always get a regular school lunch. In the old days, kids would get a pb&j if their balance was negative but that's been a few years. |
