Mcps Dine with Dignity fundraiser

Anonymous
Does anybody here know about paying off student lunch debt through MCPS dine with dignity campaign? Specifically, if 100% of my donation goes to paying off student debt or does this foundation take money for administrative costs first?

Or is it better just to go to my schools, cafeteria and hand them a check if that money would go farther into helping pay off student debt?

I think it’s a great idea and want to contribute.

MCPS Ed Foundation has a 100% score on Charity Navigator, 78% program to revenue ratio (22% overhead), and only 1 paid employee, earning $125K/yr

I think it's fine.

My employer donates to non-profits to match employee volunteer hours.

Whenever I volunteer at MCPS, I designate the Ed Foundation as the dollar match recipient.

Op here and I saw that, but it doesn’t answer how much of my dollar goes to paying off school debt. I’m just curious I know they are a legitimate charity.

Last year, our principal sent emails about how much student meal debt was at our school and in the county overall. The numbers were staggering! Apparently, they need the fundraiser because there wasn't enough money in the Dine with Dignity program to cover the fees in the past.

Dine with Dignity has millions but doesn't pay off all debt?

78 cents of your dollar goes to paying off debt. If MCPS allows a charity to pay off debt, there there has to be an address they are sending funds to. Call MCPS and find out.

That sounds like more work than paying an administrator to handle it for me.

Nothing says dignity like starving juvenile students in the richest country in the world.
