Wildwood shopping center. Bethesda. If I ever go to jail this will be why

This also happens at the Starbucks intersection in downtown Bethesda in the morning: large SUVs parked illegally with entitled people retrieving their overpriced calories, complicating the intersection.

They look so vapid. Their faces are the bland robotic faces of those on the hamster wheel. The commercial gods told them that everyone went to Starbucks and thus, they too must make pilgrimage every morning!

What morons.

If it remains a concern, then report this to the local Fire Marshall.

I truly don't understand why the mall management doesn't crack down on the double parking esp at the bagel shop. Especially after the car that went through a shop window a few months back. The volume of foot traffic and car traffic makes it really hazardous.

Then again there's so much double parking everywhere you go, much worse since the pandemic with so many delivery services. I have stopped shopping at a nearby Amazon Fresh because it's impossible to get around all the double parked delivery drivers.

I don't see this in VA. It's just the entitled Bethesda B's.

OP you need to calm down, please.

NP. Nope. Park your car and walk to the stores. OP's complaint is 100% legit and MANY of us are sick of these entitled people. It's not just annoying (and it's really annoying); it's dangerous.

Huge black SUV owners with private school teens in stupid plaid skirts- the rules apply to you as well. Park your damn car and let your kid walk the 10 steps to pick up their drink and Bethesda Bagel. This is not a school drop off lane. You don't have the right to block traffic while you idle your car under a no stopping/standing/fire lane sign.

And no I'm not jealous, my kid attended a 80k per year undergrad. You just suck.

This is a fake story, everyone knows all the huge private school moms drive WHITE SUVs (seriously, once I parked there and the entire row was white luxury SUVs!)

lol I was thinking the same thing!

LOL me too!!!

Whole heartedly endorse this rage. Idling your car in the lane instead of parking it is spiritually fat behavior regardless of what shape you're in. Park your car and walk, that's what that lot is there for.

I don't live in Bethesda and have never been to this shopping center. I live in a part of DC that doesn't get a lot of the wealthy private school crowd and there is no scourge of big black SUVs.

Yet double parking is my #1 top complaint about traffic. Double parking at elementary school drop off. Double parking at the grocery store. Double parking on narrow residential streets that make it impossible for traffic to get around.

Double parking adjacent to EMPTY parking spaces!

Double parking right next to my legally parked vehicle so I can't get out of my space to take my kid to an activity on time because I have t wait for you to come out and move your car, because you are too LAZY to park halfway down the block (we live on a block with plentiful street parking) and walk to your destination.

When I moved to DC I was told this was part of the "culture" here. Yet I've lived in this town for 25 years and never just started randomly double parking. It's not cultural. It's a small group of entitled aholes making live worse for everyone else, and a total unwillingness of local governments to do anything about it, likely because this group is overrepresented IN local government.

I hate it.

Maybe we can send the Fire Marshall and Police a link to this thread

In the driver's mind, they'll just be a minute, and anyone who's irritated will get over it and get on with their morning quickly, so what's the problem?

Like so many have said, self-serving jerks for whom the rules don't apply.

MCPD staffing is done by district. Wheaton and Bethesda are different police districts, so they won't send staff from one to the other for something like this. It happens rarely, like some major event that needs more coverage, that's it.

Which shop window? I didn't hear about that...

Elderly driver backed into a shop.

It’s private property. Can MoCo police really give out parking tickets there?

This is the way to go. Fire Marshalls see the sad results of fire regulations being disobeyed. My husband informed on a business over fire rules and they came down on them like a ton of bricks. We heard the inside scoop from someone whose sibling (unbeknownst to us) worked at the business. It was a multi-layered “engagement” with citations, follow ups, etc., etc.

OP here. Checked back in after 4 hours and I feel so validated!

Oh please please please someone send to the Fire Marshall 😂
