Anyone else quitting news entirely ?

And honestly PP, I hear you as I feel like it’s “irresponsible”of people to focus so myopically on the news and politics while being disengaged in their families and communities or decrying masses of voters for who they support on either side.

I feel like it’s a way of avoiding responsibility and pretending you have influence on a larger scale than one generally does.

I stopped the news years ago. Its all fake and hyped. Let's not forget they said she would win. Ok. not worth anyones time anymore.

Try 2WAY morning meetings on Youtube, BreakingPoints on Youtube, The YoungTurks, Commentary Magazine, The Hill Rising. Lots of way to get news where they don't like Trump, and despise the mainstream press for its ridiculous biases.

Instead bringing their own ridiculous biases.

I have little House on the Prairie as my background noise and I watch European news now. Lots of BBC and France 24. I can’t with the US news anymore. It is useless except for Fareed. I love Fareed.

Four more years of looking at that stupid mouth of his is not an option. Maybe more than four.

I stopped during Trump's first term, and only watch local news. Unfortunately, local news here has a lot of political content, including the local public radio station, so I think I will be cutting back on all of it this time.

I read the guardian.com and bbc.com headlines in the morning to get an idea of what's happening in the world. Sometimes I'll open an article of interest. In the car I listen to WETA classical music and turn it down if the news comes on.

I listen to podcasts, audiobooks and music.

Seek multiple sources and research, You have to look at it as a research and fact finding mission take your emotions out of it.

Back in the day, we watched 30 minutes of tv news in the evening and that was it. There's too much available now, so it's important to find a manageable balance.

Local news has a lot of crime and weather hype too.

This is how I feel about it.

Why bother, when I know I cannot trust the media? The last several election predictions amply proved that.

if anything, I am getting news from a greater variety of sources now. If you and other people feel blindsided by the election and all the stuff that’s happening, it’s because you were getting your news from too narrow a source before and way too biased.
I think the biggest emblem of everything that is wrong with our country is this woman named Gabrielle Blair, a Mormon influencer who runs a blog called design, mom, who ostracizes and calls for her readers to ostracize anybody who supported Trump. This is exactly what has pushed people toward him and created the divide in our country that’s a rot from the inside out. I am arming myself with information and yet I find that the most depressed about the election in my circle are the ones that keep repeating this ridiculous line “now I know how much this country really hates women” which is such a joke. Time to grow up!

We're not "blindsided" because we can't believe that he won - he won before, so we know that's possible, and all the polling said that it was going to be really close again this time. We're tuning out because he is THAT bad, but he won - and it's pretty unbearable. He's a rapist felon who is going to burn everything down, and we were helpless to stop it and are helpless to stop it from being as bad as it's going to be.

I saw a tweet before the election that hit me right in the heart - it was along the lines of, the human body was not meant to withstand three Trump election cycles. Well now it's three Trump election cycles and two Trump presidencies. And you will excuse me if I don't want to stay glued to his every outrageous, shocking, disgusting move once again. People knew exactly who he was, and they chose him again - and no, I do not need to follow every second of this now as if me paying attention will somehow influence things one way or another.

This was a mistake. The outcome was never going to be close, but the same way announcing east coast results affects west coast turnout, media outlets didn't want to discourage Harris voters with negative polling results. Cherry picking and imbalanced emphasis can make the numbers support any narrative. Also, all of the network panels picking apart Trump minutiae and blowing up Harris minutiae in the 4-6 weeks before Election Day: they were essentially trying to will a Harris win into reality.

Harris/Walz was never going to win. And the media knew it.

Find "balanced" sources, limit your exposure, and do a gut check about what you're consuming.

Sometimes I wonder if we’re living in a situation like Brazil (the movie), or Fahrenheit 451 where much of the news is made up to keep people scared and under control.

+1. Without fareed.

No U.S. news for me. I refuse to reward them with clicks since they dispensed with actual journalism and are just opinion columnists. If I never have to look at another NYT accompanying photo of an unhappy/unfairly treated person staring into the distance it will be too soon.

Quitting the news because it doesn't impact my life what so ever. It's hysteria-inducing actors and actresses. It's total nonsense.
