| The fact that this is even a discussion is so weird. Like who cares? How does this impact your daily life at all? And “low class thing”?? Backing in?? Gross |
|
OP here. All interesting responses. Thanks for the discussion.
FWIW, the street is pretty much always dead, morning or night. Lots of retirees and WFH people. Really the only people you need to worry about are the 16-18 year old boys, of which we have a couple. Also, FWIW, I find backing into my driveway slightly harder than backing out of it. Partly I think this is because my driveway is slightly uphill and I don't like backing up a hill. Probably its just though that the thing I'm used to is the thing that is easier for me. |
| So backing OUT of your steep downhill seems safer to you? Okay OP. |
|
I back in because the way the garage is laid out, I can't open my door easily if I go head in with my spouse's car also parked in there
MYOB. Sheesh. |
|
I do it for 2 reasons. We are on a very slight incline. The doors close better if I’m facing down the hill. If I’m facing the other way it can be hard to get out while carrying all my stuff.
The other reason is I want the Cargo area close to the garage so I can get the dog in the car easily from the garage. Incline is also an issue for him to get in the car. It’s harder for him to jump up if the car is racing up the incline. |

It is definitely easier to back in. My new driver said with the back up camera guidelines it was easier to back into a spot than trying to estimate how far to turn the front wheel to fit perfect between the lines when going in head first.
When I am in a public lot, like a grocery store parking lot, I would prefer to back in. Usually when I’m trying to back out, people are walking behind the car…. Slowly. if there are cars on either side, I can’t see if soneone is drivibg by until I am halfway out of the spot in the front windows are at the rear of the spot. Driving out as quick and easy. I can easily look both ways and see if a cars or people are going past. |
For real? How does this concern you? |
| Military thing |
|
1. I drive a plug in hybrid and need to access my charging port
2. I don’t want to accidentally hit a child or animal. 3. Because I LOVE annoying my neighbors |
Not to mention there are whole studies and lots of research that show backing in is safer. |
some "groups" have learned to park like this no matter where vehicle is parked. Won't get into it here because it might be "racist" for moderator, but learned about it from a co-worker who explained it. Makes so much sense for anyone to do this tho. |
Can you gently try and explain? |
You had it at “quick getaways.” IYKYK. KWIM? |
I don't entirely know where this is coming from. Are you drinking? He only drives during the daylight hours. And he backs in specifically so he won't run people over. Weirdo. |
You can talk about white people here, weirdo |
