Why do Republicans sound like Neville Chamberlain when it comes to Ukraine?

It's not like when Iraq invaded Kuwait and we sent in our troops. Iraq was an easy target to bully and beat up. Go to war with Russia and the casualties would be enormous. Sure, we talk tough, but we don't want to take on a country that can shoot back.

And if he does, so what? Europe should be responsible for its own defense after decades of failing to uphold its treaty obligations. Let them eat cake.

I honestly don’t understand the Ukraine fetish.

Everyone knows that Crimes and Donetsk are more culturally Russian than Ukrainian and if they had a vote the majority in those regions would vote to join Russian anyway.

Russia annexed Crimea in 2014 and there was not a big movement of Crimeans who were upset about it, otherwise I’m sure it would have been exploited for propaganda value.

We all know that this war will conclude with Russia keeping Crimea and Donetsk. Let’s just fast forward to the end so that we can spare ourselves WW3 and also save billions in US taxpayer dollars that we don’t really have.

Doesn't matter if they are more culturally Russian or Ukrainian. Russia invaded a sovereign country. Now, its neighbors are fearful of Russia doing the same to them. That's why Sweden and Finland joined NATO.

1. Putin will not stop at Crimean Ukraine. He wants Kiev, Lviv, and to eradicate Ukrainian culture. In short, he is telegraphic a holocaust for Ukrainians. As a human being, we should do everything within our power to stop that. There are also over 1,000,000 Americans of Ukrainian descent. This matters to my fellow citizens.

2. Putin has already telegraphed that he will not stop at Ukraine. If successful, he will make a play for the small Baltic states; he is banking on Trump welching on America's NATO commitments. He will also make a play for parts of Poland and subsume all of Moldova.

3. The US provided Ukraine with "security assurances" in exchange for Ukraine giving up the former USSR's nuclear weapons in the late 1990s.

Russia also broke the Budapest Memorandum that its government had signed under Yeltsin to not attack Ukraine. Russian promises mean jacksh#t. Never trust Putin or Russia.

Russia has also showed that they are a paper tiger with a garbage grade military. If we learned anything during the past three years is that Russian military might is largely an illusion.

How long are we expected to prop up a corrupt Eastern European country against a much more powerful corrupt Eastern European country while waves of illegals drain our resources at home?

Americans want to talk as if they're the world's police so they can't afford to not prop up foreign countries.

The bold is not true.

Donetsk and Luhansk voted by upwards of 80% to leave the Soviet Union in the 1991 independence referendum. Even in Crimea, the vote was 54% to become part of the independent Ukraine.

All this support for Ukraine is doing is bleeding our resources dry, and weakening us in advance of a much scarier conflict with a much more dominant military power.

Not really. This war in Ukraine has mostly just involved us shipping over old gear from the 1980s and 1990s which should be replaced/upgraded anyhow. And the whole thing has only cost us something like 5% of the DoD budget.

Why are we propping up a corrupt Trump in the White House?
