I honestly don’t understand the Ukraine fetish.

Everyone knows that Crimes and Donetsk are more culturally Russian than Ukrainian and[b] if they had a vote the majority in those regions would vote to join Russian anyway. [/b]

Russia annexed Crimea in 2014 and there was not a big movement of Crimeans who were upset about it, otherwise I’m sure it would have been exploited for propaganda value.

We all know that this war will conclude with Russia keeping Crimea and Donetsk.  Let’s just fast forward to the end so that we can spare ourselves WW3 and also save billions in US taxpayer dollars that we don’t really have. [/quote]

The bold is not true.

Donetsk and Luhansk voted by upwards of 80% to leave the Soviet Union in the 1991 independence referendum. Even in Crimea, the vote was 54% to become part of the independent Ukraine.
