These people are not "conservatives" - they have hijacked the term to suit their radical outlook. |
I don't work for the government, so I'm far more likely to be engaged in a productive activity. As people keep saying, the shutdowns show how useless most of the government is. I know it hurts the feelings of federal workers to be told their work is meaningless, but the truth hurts sometimes. The truth is we got the low-hanging fruit years ago with cleaner air and water. We simply need to go back to the 1970s standards and stop writing new ones that choke economic growth. |
The lazy government workers are the equivalent of the 80’s welfare queens
They are scapegoats |
We haven't had a true government shutdown in more than a decade. And even then, essential workers still had to show up. Let's have one cycle of no one getting a social security or other benefit check, hopsitals and nursing homes not receiving federal money, and see how things look after that. |
We never had a true shutdown. People were still allowed to fly during the shutdown, because air traffic controllers and TSA were working without being paid. True shutdowns would halt all air flights, for starters. There weren’t mass illnesses from poisoned food because inspections were still happening as govt workers were still working without being paid. If you want a true shutdown, don’t be surprised when hundreds and thousands of people and businesses get pissed off when they cannot fly and their travel plans are ruined. |
Go on Huff Post and you'll see a similar level of garbage spewed from another direction. 95% of Rs and Ds have very similar political views and moral views (despite what the planned narratives of our two awful parties would like for you to believe). It's the small percentage of loud mouth idiots spewing 99% of the garbage you see on Reddit and other online social forums. The overwhelming majority of people that identify as Rs or Ds are actually decent people. |
Great, abolish the TSA and let the airlines handle it. Would be fine if they did the same for air traffic controllers, who have had increased security incidents due to DEI hiring. Don't believe me, just listen to the audio of any near miss. |
As liberal as I am and that I believe government is a viable source of support for the people and a noble and necessary function for a society, I think our current governmental departments are in need of serious repair. DH works in an agency and good god, the 70 year olds have to retire and job description for some of these folks is completely unnecessary - total redundancy, a waste of funds for taxpayers and complete inefficiency all around. I'm not suggesting Trump and his administration are the right people to overhaul it, but yeah, you're in denial or lying if you think our government in its current condition is effective and efficient! |
So you're basing your entire outlook on your husband's experience in one agency. |
Nothing under the rule of the current GOP and Dem parties is running effectively or efficiently. Nothing helpful anyway. They are effective and efficient in their schemes to dupe people into giving them money. |
Exactly when they shutdown - they should close EVERYTHING. Then we'll see how people feel. |
Yeah, can’t wait until airlines hire the cheapest air traffic controllers or security screeners possible or work them to the bone with a Skeleton crew and are short staffed. They’ll crash flights. Or let terrorists slip through. This is exactly the same garbage McKinsey has pushed for years and has all sorts of deaths at places like steel factories to even Disney world. |
And then there's the National Institute of Mental Health. Since mental health is apparently the main cause of gun violence, this seems important. |
I question the judgment of anyone who relies on Reddit for anything. It’s one of the most misogynistic places on the internet. I think management must hate women to the core. |
I've personally seen stupidity in HUD, Department of the Army, DOJ, FBI, Labor, Commerce, ODNI, CIA, NSA, and FTC. SEC has to be one of the better ones based on my experiences, however. I've been on a ton of seventh floors. The federal government is gorked. If you don't understand that, your judgment is impaired. |
