r/Conservative on Reddit is terrifying

Anonymous
For some reason I went down a rabbit hole of the r/Conservative reddit group. It was pretty eye opening and terrifying. Regardless, if most conservatives feel the way those people do why don't we just get rid of the Federal government altogether and let people figure stuff out for themselves? I swear 50% of the posts were about how we should fire 80% of the federal workforce and how lazy and inept the federal workers were.

So the idea is that we should put everything back to the states, remove the federal government and dissolve the "United States" is that what conservatives would prefer? Because without the Federal government what is the point of being a united states of America? Just become individual states that govern themselves.

Except, in general, state/local employees are more lazy and more inept.

Okay then just get rid of federal/state/local government and let people do what they want. You want roads and water and energy - get it yourself. Or make a commune with people of like mind and figure it out. What do people think government does? I mean I know conservatives think the government does nothing. So then deal with your life without it.

Whatever, have you been on r/politics, which should be more appropriately labeled r/communism? Those people are scary AF too. The reddit base is overwhelmingly a far left echo chamber, and they will delete posts that criticize any Dem policies or will outright ban you if you dare to have an opinion other than far left. They want to nationalize industries. I've seen many arguing that it should be illegal to earn over $100-200k per year so tax 100% of anything sbove that. They want UBI, free college, free childcare, free housing, free healthcare, etc. They want to kill any form of capitalism and entrepreneurship. As scared as you are of r/conservative, just realize that other people have the same perspective with respect to the rest of 99% of reddit given how extreme far left virtually the entire rest of the site is.

Reddit is a giant DCUM. Notice how during sequestration, nobody noticed the government was shut down. Other than the uptick at the bar at Capitol Grille and other hangouts. Was much harder to get tee times too. Fed workers for 6 week paid vacation. Last thought: The entire purpose of the Federal government was to create a common defense of the US. Nothing else. The Fed just grew into a self-licking ice cream cone. Outside of the military, you could probably cut 50%+ of the Federal work force. Try reading the Constitution.

The Constitution does not provide for this, so it would be armed conflict. And because there are blue islands surrounded by red and redder islands separated by blue (like Long Island, NY) it would be like the Balkans or Central Asia.

Not good.

It will probably happen one day. Having the economic engines of the country poorly represented in Washington is not sustainable. But war is not something to look forward to.

States will never have their own rights because it makes absolutely zero sense. What, are you going to take a driving exam in 50 different states in case all of the laws are different? Think about all of the consumer products. What, is a company going to make 50 different version of it to meet 50 different states' requirements? That will never happen.

There is a limit to states' rights. Most people aren't that extreme and realize we need national policies set by the federal govt to have uniform standards for many things.

Op - ok so what happens if we just have a department of defense and nothing else?

This is the long game for foreign actors like Russia. They want us talking casually about breaking down the federal government and dissolving the United States.
I hear it from liberals now too, and it’s possibly the most damaging rhetoric we can engage in.
Starts with bots, and foreign trolls, spreads to pimple faced 14 year old edgelords, and slowly creeps into the mainstream online.
So damaging and unpatriotic.
Not to mention totally f’king stupid.

We just need DoD, DoJ, Treasury, State and IRS. Get rid of everything else.

My friends and family had to continue to work during the shut downs. They just went without pay during those times. You didn’t notice a difference, because there wasn’t a difference. All that work was still being done.

Yeah. No one needs an EPA. Clean water is for suckers.

Lol. You forgot about other crap like FDA. If drug makers cannot have uniform standards for how to make drugs, guess what? They will just abandon the entire USA altogther and there will be no more medicines in the country. NO drug maker is going to make drugs with 50 different standards. Same for food. All consumer products. Etc. The idea that the US would turn into 50 different countries is really dumb. There are so many issues. How would California deliver all of its food to hungry people in a red state like Arkansas if Kansas, Nebraska, and every state between has all sorts of different transportation laws? Hello starvation.

The laws are different.

States offer reciprocal licenses. But they don't have to.

Musk fired 80% of X staff. It's now setting records for viewership and usage and better than ever. Same could apply to the federal government.
