Advice: He bought me a birthday gift…and we broke up before my birthday

By this logic my ex wife should be sending me a Starbucks card with a little under $2mil on it.

Are you sure you made the right decision by breaking up w/this guy??

I mean…..the fact that he hasn’t asked you to reimburse him for the pricey massage 💆🏻‍♀️ illustrates that he is a decent, stand up kinda guy.

All kidding aside - if it will make YOU feel intrinsically better then you can always offer to give him the money for the massage but it really isn’t necessary.

After all it was a gift and you know how people always say…
To never look a gift horse in the mouth..

This has nothing to do with the gift. You want the last glimpse of him. Yikes.

Let it go.

Letting go of people doesn't have to mean hurt feelings and bad blood, and giving him the money back could go a long way toward preventing resentments. You'd appreciate it, were the roles reversed, so do the right thing.

I would be offended if someone tried to give me cash for a gift in this scenario. How hard up do they think I am and why are they bringing money into our dynamic and breakup? We're talking about a gift certificate for a massage here, not some heirloom or big ticket item.

Oh, and besides being kind of miffed, I would think they were EXTREMELY tacky.
