Hidden gem colleges in Colorado or Massachusetts or Washington?

Endicott is not great for motivated kids. Super bro-y and kids who peaked in HS thinking they’re the man/woman playing D3 sports.

Whitman in Washington (it's off the beaten track but once you get there the town is great)
+ 1 Puget Sound
+ 1 University of Denver

Whitman is in Walla Walla, WA. It's a small town--population 33K---in the middle of nowhere. It's a place people go for 2-3 days to wine taste, eat good food and then get out of there to get back to the west side of the mountains (Seattle area). Definately visit and make sure your kid knows what they are getting themselves into---because it's a small school in an isolated area. Great school---but I've know several kids attend and then realize it's not for them because of how isolated it is.

I’m the pp who said the town is great. I would agree with this. You can get good coffee and good ice cream and safely walk a several-square-block downtown but it is isolated. I loved that, but if your kid wants Seattle it’s not that!

Ft. Collin’s is a great town, and the outdoor activities options are amazing. CSU vibe overall is laid back and supportive. Well, except when the football team plays CU, that is, hehe.

Not a hidden gem. It’s the only school worth its salt in the MA state system so it gets a lot of in-state kids.

My kid is at UMass Amherst majoring in social sciences. I was impressed by the school and she likes it a lot so far. (Freshman year). Plus, it’s a great college town.
