If you are close to the beach it can be a loooong walk, esp for younger kids. |

Ditto with Ocean City. Stay on boardwalk and the world is your oyster. |

| How about Lake Michigan beach towns? |
| Duck |
Well sure some areas are further from the main shopping or further from the beach just like any beach town. But you can stay less than a quarter mile from the beach and also less than a quarter mile from restaurants and shopping and activities, very easily. If you want everything to be even LESS than a quarter mile away from your house, you might need to stay at a resort. But even then…. |

What? No. |
no. I think people are having a hard time understanding what op is asking. |
|
Why wouldn’t Duck answer OP’s question? The main exception being that Duck has no nightlife - vs boardwalk for families and bars for adults in Rehoboth. But otherwise, as long as you stay in “town of Duck,” everything is basically walking distance. |
NP: I would put HH in that category, especially if staying near Coligny Plaza. I have a place in Harbour Town and rarely use my car thanks to walkable shops and stores and activities plus all the places I can get to by bike. |
It's maybe "somewhat walkable." But OP asked for best walkable beach towns. It's not like Cape May which is 100% walkable with the ocean/beach, restaurants, bars, shops, a grocery store, historic sites and more all right there. Park when you get there and you never have to get in your car. |
