To understand why Muslims in Michigan are moving away from Harris, see the video above. It's not just about this election alone but thinking long term about the two party system.

The assumption that Trump will be worse for Gaza is not necessarily true and just a fear mongering tactic by the democrats

How can you type this with a straight face. Trump has said Natanyahu needs to "finish the job" and "push the Palestinians into the sea" while also extolling that Jared has the rights to develop the beachfront property there.

That is all true but what about Lebanon? If I had to guess then I would assume that most of Michigan's Arab population is Lebanese. They care about Palestine but they care about Lebanon more. Israel has been bombing Christian, as well as Shia, areas in Lebanon recently.

Yea, Arabs and Muslims who don't vote for Harris are following a "cut of my nose to spite my face" strategy.

Do they really think Trump will be good for Arabs and Muslims in the ME?

Most likely they kicked him out because he is very critical of Democrats and recently retweeted Jill Stein. Which obviously doesn't look great, but I suppose it's better than assuming he is a terrorist or some sh&t like that (as he seems to be implying).

The genocide in Gaza and Lebanon was their key issue. They felt marganlized and demunized by Biden adminstration.

Many of the panelists said they will vote for Jill Stein. Her support is bigger than polls indicate.

DCUM, why are you surprised? I grew up walking distance to the library where recent rally was held. I’ve wxplained many times how people outside the bubble look at the world — particularly in Dearborn/Detroit. Keep putting your heads in the sanD as usual. SMH

By the way, I support people who are not going to vote for one of the big two if they get no acknowledgement from either party. People are tired of being ignored after providing support.

I think a lot of people just want to use their vote as a way to get out their anger.

Also many of them may not feel very connected to Democrats anyway it's just they don't have a better option and I imagine that's frustrating.

. Of course that is their choice. But I'm curious what it means to get "acknowledgement" from a political party? I don't agree with everything Democrats do or propose, nor have they reached out to me/my demographic group beyond flyers/ads. I just choose the party/candidate that is best aligned with my values.

The Harris campaign would not even talk to a representative / convention delegate.

Your suggestion that Arabs and Muslims in Michigan are not informed about what is happening Gaza and southern Lebanon is insulting. They are probably better informed than you.

When people's families are killed, their homes are destroyed, and hundreds of thousands of people are turned into refugees, it is difficult to convince them to vote for those who are funding and supplying the killing and destruction.

Just an aside, aren't there a large number of Christian Arabs in Michigan?

There are Chaldean Arabs in Michigan.

Who do they want to alienate more? It's a no win situation.

Sorry, I don't know what or who you are referring to?

If you are talking about the YouTube video - that is an interview of three people. Doesn't foretell much.

Not PP but the representative for the Uncommitted delegation at the convention.

Cubans:Hispanics = Lebanese:Arabs

Trump is targeting them hard and he is micro-targeting the Lebanese community

He went on Lebanese TV and has said that the Lebanese part of this war needs to end. Harris has been silent as has Biden.
https://www.newarab.com/news/trump-promises-t...urn-out-well-lebanon

Tiffany's in-laws are Lebanese. Tom Barrack is Lebanese.
https://www.nytimes.com/2024/10/17/us/politic...-arab-americans.html

If Harris loses Michigan it is because of Lebanon not Gaza.
