Friend said my handbag will make me look “cheap” ahead of our trip to London. What type of bag would you take?

I agree with others the bag is cute but a less branded strap would be nicer

I want that bag! That said I wish it didn't have the label on the strap like that. It is easily swapped though.

It's just the loud color, lol. I think it's fine. I mean, I wouldn't carry it -- but there is nothing wrong with you doing so if you want to. It's a cross body and a good size for travel. London is a big city, and although like NY you are going to see most people in dark neutrals -- people will be wearing all kinds of things.

Your friend does not sound like much of a friend.

The bag is perfectly nice and there is nothing wrong with it.

Assuming your trip is coming up soon be aware that black coats and bags and pants and boots/shoes tend to be ubiquitous in London in the late fall/winter.

"I haven't been to London since last fall."

Lol. Not a humble brag, but that is the phrase that comes to mind.

You love it? Then carry the bag!

Your friend sounds like she may be self conscious and projecting that onto you. Ignore.

Having strong opinions about a handbag doesn't mean that person is a bad friend. Is a "friend" supposed to lie?

It has a shoulder strap which is better for security.
It is not supersized which is better for walking around.
It is bright and cheery.
I'd use it if you go from March thru Oct 30.

If you go Nov 1 - Feb I'd take an earth tone/black purse.
London is gray in the winter and I think earth tone/black would be better in the dead of winter.

Disagree. A gray winter is exactly when you need a pop of color.

Was the friend actually asked for her opinion, or did she just freely share it? Also, there are better ways to let a friend know you don't like their bag than calling it "cheap-looking."

I love that bag. Your friend is a dolt. Wear what you love and is comfortable!!

Can't OP just flip the strap over? I assume it's not branded on both sides.

+1 on this. How old are you? who cares about somebody else's purse????

Do you look and dress like the model who is displaying that purse? On the model it looks great. on you it might look awful. listen to your friend.

I like the bag. Years ago I had a red purse as my daily “neutral” purse. However for touristy stuff and going “day to dinner”, I would pick a brown or black purse. The bright color is fun - but also a target for thieves and pickpockets.

I know they are not as current, but I would opt for a cross body in a similar size, but less flashy color.
