I don't think it's audacious to speculate why a principal is leaving their job, ESPECIALLY if they're leaving mid-year, which is USUALLY done for unexpected reasons (i.e. family/personal crisis) or when you're fed up with the system. Principals are like mayors of their schools. You can't be surprised when people wonder why a principal is leaving midyear. |
Yes, they were appointed in spring. But they didn’t start until July 1. |
Not true. If someone is already the acting principal of a school and then they are appointed as that school's permanent principal, the permanent position is effective the day after the board vote. This is what happened last year at Clarksburg, for example. Owusu retired mid-year, and O'Neill started as the acting principal in January. On April 11th, the board voted to appoint O'Neill as the permanent principal, and this took effect on April 12th. No, yeah, it's totally normal to speculate. Think about it. Talk about it at dinner. Ask your friend with a kid in your son's class who you've known since 3rd grade. But it's straight up callous and unhinged to post about it to a message baord expecting someone to reveal the drama. |
Exactly, but somehow because it is often done here, people think it is normal. |
Imagine bringing some of this energy to the crap kids put up with 24/7 in school and on social media. |
You say that as if insider info isn't posted here all the time. People are posting here before people spill the beans here. Don't hate the player, hate the game. |
| I'm hoping alot of the "equity over academics" principals pack it up and head out of town. |
| Wonder what that says about the principals still around… |
She probably got a job offer in another state and can double dip her retirement |
| As a PP noted - each employee has a different retirement eligibility date. MCPS has a fiscal year beginning in July. However the state retirement system has a fiscal year beginning in January. Employees of the state system may retire on the first of any month after eligibility. In the county, we are asked for at least a 60 day notice so that the paperwork etc. can be completed. |

Who is left from McKnight's group of drinking buddies?
Tick, tock Dana and Stephanie. |
No surprise there. Now hopefully they don't bring back any of the outgoing principals old buddies . |
More like Biedleman’s drinking buddies. They are falling one by one. What’s done in the dark always comes to light. |
