Wow the statement that UVA kids all look the same, where did you go when you where there?

My uva dd who is in a sorority btw looks nothing like anyone else at UVA. And guess what, different hair cut than all of her friends. Gasp!

UVA and VT rejects attend W&M.

I think VT is a great school but W&M is a much more difficult admit. W&M ACT - is 32 (for 25%). VT is 27 (for 25%). 85% of W&M admits took at least Calculus.

But W&M kids are so different from the UVA sheeple! For example hair color - at W&M there’s green, purple and pink. It’s all so different than UVA with its blonde and brown and red hair. Don’t you see how individualistic it is when everyone dyes their hair?

Other than this board where it has been used for a decade. Many CWM students get AP to WCUSA and BGW.

UVA has an entire residential college - Brown - populated with the sort of alt, artsy, goth vibe that the W&M boosters are advocating for. If that’s your jam you’ll find it in spades at Brown.

Did you visit last century? I have a fourth year and I’ve been on grounds a lot. It is not dressy by any means, unless you think leggings and sweatshirts are dressy? Also it’s an incredibly diverse group of people nowadays. I’d challenge you to walk around grounds and not see a diverse population. But anyway, this thread is about W&M or sorry CWM

To answer the original question, the vibe is good. It can be pretty rigorous, depending on the major but I think there are lots of outlets for the students to balance that out.
There is a lot to do on campus, lots of clubs and events. And while it is more of a tourist city than a college town, there is plenty to do off-campus.
It is in a beautiful part of the state with lots of water access - a lake on campus where kids can kayak, creeks, rivers, and the ocean isn't too far either.
Our student doesn't have a car but is able to bike to lots of places, even a creek (I think) with a beach.
Definitely visit.

The "water access" is just swamps. Yuck.

Spoken like someone who's clearly never visited the area. The water access is two rivers with very nice beaches, and a massive lake on campus with kayaking.

Um... I used to live in Williamsburg. It is very much in the middle of a swampy area.
