We should all be opposed to Project 2025. The founders wanted a separation of church and state but the GOP looks at Afghanistan and says, ooh, yeah I like that.

No they didn't. They didn't want an established national church, but they had no problem with established state churches and religious tests. Different states had different established churches in part because the colonies had different established churches.
