It is. There's always a part of individual responsibility, and also a part of societal responsibility. We can't let the food lobby push unhealthy stuff on us all the time.

Did the food lobby push all the carts full of garbage to the cash registers at the Costco today?

You can go to Costco and not buy big piles of garbage. We do it all the time.

+1 Costco has the best prices on many of my favorite not garbage food choices: produce, frozen berries and vegetables, nuts, seeds, oatmeal, etc. And the quality of their branded products is excellent.

1. Pork chops - He's marinating the entire large pack for 3 people.
2. Hershey chocolate bars full size
3. Chips jumbo size bag
4. 2 packs danishes - he ate 1 after lunch.
5. Sweet tea

I don't know what to do, he got defensive in the past when I joked that he lost the privilege to grocery shopping. Just venting here.

Why did you confuse this with a place where it’s appropriate to vent?

NP. Because it is? Anyone can post anything here as long as it doesn’t violate the terms of service. You’re free to skip over it if it displeases you.

+1 The only reason Coscto even has those full size Hershey bars right now is Halloween, so I'd assume he bought them to be the cool house. The pork chops thing is strange but not crazy - he can cook them all now and have leftovers, or even if he eats 2 chops that's not a diabetic issue. You eat the other danish and keep the chips hidden away until you have a party so your son doesn't get into them.

I bought their giant pumpkin pie for $6. It was too tempting. A great deal for sure and it tasted as good as I hoped. I can say for sure there is nothing in my brain that would keep me from doing it even though I am health conscious and trying to lose weight.

Your dh should not be allowed in Costco if he is diabetic and buying junk food.

The pork chops are fine, the rest is problematic. But you can't control other people. You need to talk to him about the diet and health of your son, however.

Pork chops fine. Chocolate bars could be for Halloween. Chips in moderation. Danishes and sweet tea should just go in the trash. No one should be eating those with regularity. If you bring to office, the people who shouldn’t will be the ones eating them. I vote trash.

What do you all eat for meals? I’d focus on good protein and fiber and low carb. Let them fill up on meat and non-starchy high fiber vegetables and berries. That should help squash some of the cravings and binges. Have you met with a dietitian with your husband and son?

Just say no!

Nuh uh, it's always someone or some entity's fault. There should be no shame anymore because it's not their fault.

Show him a you tube video interview of Dr Robert Lufkin.
Come back to this thread to let me know how it went.

That plus more fat.
Fat is the only thing that curbs appetite and makes one feel full and healthy. Low fat diets are what cause constant food cravings and health issues.

My husband is the same way. I just gave up on him and don't care anymore. I don't want him grocery shopping for us. I eat healthy and can't stand processed/junk food. I don't care if he dies earlier, he's an adult. I just don't want our kids to eat what he eats.

NP. I don't control my husband. His shopping trips look similar.
