The reason is because jingoists believe they understand the situation.

Funny. It may be hard to check in with loved ones in the region if they are in Gaza—you know, because they probably have no home…

What??
Post that note from the Principal.

Anonymous wrote:What message if any did MCPS send out on the anniversary of Oct 7? Or did they "allow" each school leader to make the call whether to send a message to school families? Can't quite recall, but wasn't there some controversy around MCPS' messaging last year immediately after the attacks?

Why would a local school system send any message at all about something that happened a world away?

Well they felt the need to do so last year under another Superintendent.

What??
Post that note from the Principal.

It wasn’t a written message. It was an announcement on the loudspeaker.

Maybe because people on the internet are crazy, and don’t want their kids school to have a bomb threat called in by someone on either side of the argument.

Then why even write high school. There are about 26 to narrow it down.

MCPS should not be commenting on this topic at all unless it comes up in history or government classes. MCPS has students with relatives in Israel, Gaza and Lebanon. Need to be empathetic to all sides. And if they comment on this, they should also be commenting on Ukraine, and the horrific situation in Sudan and who knows what else
