Sorry, didn’t see that you put world language. Well that leaves my ds out. He’s not taking a language waiver, but his mild dyslexia makes languages very difficult for him. We’re hoping he’ll manage three years of it.

Do whatever you want and go to a college that is comfortable serving students like you. Designing your life around a college's arbitrary and half random selection process is a recipe for misery.

If you are not STEM, I don't know...but I would think you should be in one of them too.

Georgia Tech admissions said you should be in BC if that's the most rigorous.

My kid is taking AP Bio and AP Physics (took AP Chem last year), and took 4 years of Spanish, but could not do 5th. We'll see if the extra science plus 4 years of Spanish helps.

At our HS the ones who get in unhooked to engineering at stanford/ivies have AP chem, APphysics C and Multivariable cal. Most also have AP BIO but it is not essential as the other 3. At the school across town, they can get in with BC calc and AP physC or Chem, plus AP bio, both is not needed. But both is also almost impossible there.

How on earth would you know what "the school across town" requires? Or what classes anyone (other than your own kid) takes? These posts are utterly absurd.

UVA has long said foreign language is a core class and that they want core all 4 years of HS. Of course there are exceptions, but this is the #1 reason my DC is taking AP foreign lang and AP sci this year

Engineering first year - stopped Spanish after Spanish 4. Don’t freak out.

It is baffling to me that they care so much about a foreign language.
My oldest followed their instructions, took highest rigor in everything, risked a B (and got one), and is now at his dream school (an ivy)

For my second, I am reluctant to follow that advice cause now we are risking multiple Bs I fear. I think one is the limit.

Yes, MV is the next in sequence. The accelerated math track is typically Algebra 2/Precalc/BC/MV.

You’re required to be proficient in a second language if you are in A&S there.

My daughter is taking AP French this year just because UVA wants four years of language in high school. She hates French and had other classes she wanted to take but didn’t want to give up the post of UVA. Very frustrating.

My DD took Spanish through Level 3, then switched and took 2 years of Latin. She has plenty of other AP’s. It will be interesting to see if UVa holds it against her for not taking AP Spanish.
She thinks Latin would be more useful in her chosen major and Latin is also taught by one of the best teachers at her high school, so she wanted to give it a try.

UVA doesn't appear to be very "creative". They have their checklist for acceptances and by God, we don't stray from it.
