"called" as in past tense. Honestly...it was a huge mistake to "give" land to anyone solely based on religious claims. No other land in the history of the world has ever been given to any religion solely based on claims that it belonged to them. No country should be based solely on a religion. Had it been done right...Israel could have been given the land but only with restrictions in place...meaning nobody should have been forced to convert in order to become a citizen of the country. The country should have been forced to allow equal rights to all residents regardless of religion. The state of Israel should have been forced to have a legislative body with diverse religions. A country based on equal rights regardless of religious beliefs.

But alas...that didn't happen and an autocratic, basically a dictatorship, country was formed. Unfortunately, we can't time travel and go back and change history. And I'm honestly not sure how this will ever be truly resolved.

The parties have not met since June. No discussions. The impact on the economy in the event of a strike (likely) would be very significant. I don’t know industry conditions to ascertain whether a 77 percent raise over 5 years is sustainable. Even more difficult however is the union’s position on a moratorium on all automation and technology. Biden’s response is absurd. He can call for a no strike period to get the parties negotiating. We have a huge catastrophe in the southeast and to limit the supply of food and commodities is tone deaf.

Israel wants to be top dog and any sane country would. I don't agree with their methods but I do think they are brilliant strategists. They have a shot at succeeding with their plan and they know it.

The concern is how long it'll last. ME will never stop bloodshed perm because one side is always provoking the other. It's not really a war as it is a bully fight. Winning is more about not the country with the most casualties. The way in which both Arabs and Jews "win" isn't really winning.

So Israel may win their fight now but the blood is on them and make no mistake, one day they will be attacked again in the name of revenge. It's just not a peaceful resolution to do it this way even if in the short term, Israel will get the most out of things. Just unbelievably tragic all around.

Israel is protected by the US. Without that protection the “brilliant” strategists would get their a$$ kicked and run over. Israel is pushing way over its weight and is creating so many long term problems for its self and the US. Remember last time Israel’s brilliant strategists invade Lebanon they created Hezbollah.

Israel really does not have a strategy they are just reactionary and very predictable. Once the US pulls the plug they will have serious problems.

The core tenets of Western Civilization “values” do NOT lie in the so-called Judeo-Christian tradition.

Truth! it was the rejection of these "judeo-Christian" ideas and embrace of the original greco-Roman values in the renaissance and late middle ages which are admirable about the west, the jdeo christain stuff is the stuff that held back, terrorized and basically is the crap part of european history. This...now I totally get it...just look at all the self-check out lanes at the grocery stores...was at Aldi's yesterday and only 1 cashier...ALL others were self checkout.

Automation and technology, especially with the birth of AI, is definitely going to affect various industries so I can see wanting a moratorium...but I am not sure how you can prevent it in the long run.

It doesn't matter where Israelis came from. It is clearly closer to Western civilization than the rest of the Middle East.

Israel hasn't occupied Lebanon in decades. Hezbollah is fighting Israeli occupation of Israel. And both groups want to kill all Jews.
