I really want to see it. Everyone raves about it! |
It was bonkers, gory, OTT, brilliant. I loved it! |
I thought it was powerful, and the two main performances were great.
I do think it went too far in some ways and at some times when more restraint would have built more tension and made the points hit closer to home. It felt most poignant to me when the “big” moments were more subtle and more watch-able. I especially liked the tension between the SELF. Everyone talks about this as “society does this, society pressure that,” but it’s the fight between the “perfect” and “flawed” versions of the selves that got to me. That scream, “Control yourself” hit home with me. |
I'd like to see Demi's performance, but I'm scared to watch this movie after reading these posts. |
You'd have to prepare yourself for the very serious body horror piece of it. I'm glad I saw it on the small screen, a big screen would have only amplified and I found it hard enough to stomach. I still loved it. |
I do not watch anything in any type of horror/gore genre so this movie was honestly too much for me. I get from a critical standpoint why they made it so over the top, but it was not enjoyable for me to watch at all! I was honestly waiting for it to be over. I did appreciate both Demi and Margaret in their roles! |
It’s a horror and gore movie, just know that going into it. Like the classic Carrie. The trailer doesn’t really emphasis the genre of the film, so I think some people are caught off guard. I am not a big gore movie fan at all. But I did really like this movie. I watched it at home, fully aware that there’s going to be some (a lot) of blood and just fast forwarded scenes that were too much for me. |
I thought it was interesting, original and acting was great, but I could not physically watch the last part (too gory) so gave up on it and just read the ending. |
If Elisabeth and Sue were “one,” why didn’t they each know what the other had been doing during their seven days? Seems like they would want to help each other rather than sabotage one another.
Regardless, this was not an Oscar-caliber movie. Demi Moore did a good job, but still. I laughed when I read what Margaret Qualley said about her fake breasts for the movie - “Unfortunately, there is no magic boob potion, so we had to glue those on,” Qualley said. “Coralie found an incredible prosthetic team to endow me with the rack of a lifetime — just not my lifetime.” https://people.com/margaret-qualley-details-severe-acne-caused-by-the-substance-prosthetics-8774675 |
I can’t remember ever laughing and screaming at the same time before. Hard to watch but obviously designed to elicit a visceral response. |
Just watched it last night and SAME! Going to have to see what else this director has done, I thought she was brilliant. |
Her other film is "Revenge." You can do a Mubi trial to watch it. Also neofeminist, lots of blood! |
