When should we expect to receive beginning of year assessment reports? Aps

Why doesn’t aps put a personalized summary of what the scores mean, like the one pp posted, on parentvue? It seems strange to me that they spend all this time testing and yet I struggle to know if my kid is actually progressing.

My 1st grader had a 205 at the beginning of the year (last year).

Because they don’t actually want you to know. They test because it’s mandated.

I think it's actually because they don't want to do the extra work to post individualized reports that come from a 3rd party company to each kid's Parentvue documents. The way they are posting scores right now they just have to export lines of data from a central database to that test scores tab. I think it's mostly just laziness.

Kindergarten doesn't do MAP tests.

Yes they do

No they do not if you are in APS. Kindergarten does VALLSS for reading and VKRP for math. MAP testing starts in 1st grade for math and 3rd grade for reading.

Except… my new K student already has her scores.

For EMAS not MAP

Sweetheart, no. It says NWEA on the page.

What school?

An APS elementary school. Now I don’t want to say because I know teachers read on here and I already told her exact scores.

But you’re wrong saying that APS doesn’t do NWEA Map testing for kinder.

Per APS email:
NWEA Participants:

NWEA MAP Growth for Reading for students in grades 3-10 and those in grade 11-12 enrolled in Structured Literacy and/or with reading goals in their Individualized Education Program (IEP).

NWEA MAP Growth for Math for students in grades 1 - 8 and students in grade 9 who are enrolled in Algebra I

Kindergarten doesn't do MAP tests.

I see NWEA reading and math on Parentvue for my 3rd and 4th graders. Thankfully they listed the percentile so it’s pretty obvious how they did.

AND YET, my K student has her NWEA score reports for both reading and math. Get a grip, loser.

Are the percentiles across all APS schools, or just across the individual school (or something different entirely?). Just curious what the universe is that they are being compared against.

I think they're national percentiles. APS scores would be higher than the national figures in general, so a 90th percentile isn't 90th within APS.

They are national percentiles. Around the 40th percentile is what predicts SOL proficiency. The scores are out now but APS said the reports will be uploaded into documents by 10/4.
