Some parents define that as 'tough coaching'.

US "scouts" pick the same kids over and over and expect better results.

National team players are treated like superstars while the rest of the country are starving.

It's a great way/motivation to escape poverty.

lazy and ignorant attempt at humor. if this was true then they'd be winning every single year. fear of execution or starvation may get people to play hard, but it doesn't get teams to #1. please give a real attempt to figure out why this starving country of small people wins more than it should

Not lazy, nor ignorant.

People may feel like this isn't an accurate statement or say this person is just sour grapes but it isn't entirely false. Seeing how the process works, you can understand how the net just isn't big enough to actually identify everyone. Also factor in the gatekeeping at the local levels with no oversight is problematic as well, but can't blame them too much, they don't feel like the system is broken and nor do they want to invest more into identifying players.

We were literally told by our DOC that US Soccer likes it when they send the same players year after year so scouts can evaluate their progress.

Or in other words US Soccer never makes mistakes but sometimes it takes a while for their genius to manifest.

The funny truth about women’s soccer. No one here watched them completely destroy the US under 20 team. One of the worst soccer matches I’ve ever seen. US team had their center forward, Dudley, defend maybe 15 corner kicks in the first half. Korea kept playing short and the US had no solutions. It was like watching a rerun. The US team looked boring and out of sync. They got beat by give and go’s. I will say that most of the Korea team looked much older than 20. But just sad that no one here actually watched any of the tournament and still wants to comment.

Get lost. This is merely a long winded troll post. Additionally, the first sentence of your longwinded, but poor, post is really crap.

OH Honey - They were just pacifying you. That's the least hurtful way to tell you your daughter isn't their favorite. This simply isn't true.

I didn’t watch that game, but I watched multiple games in the tournament, live.

Did nobody see Hope Solo's doc on Netflix? Do we really think US Soccer is actually trying to put the best out there now? There could easily be a 5th star on those jerseys if their goal is to always put the best out there.

One of the commentators at the game said the coach has them together for up to 3 months at a time. No other country has that as players play for a variety of squads. They don’t do anything but play soccer.

PLAYER SELECTION
Players are discovered through two main pathways. Talent Identification Managers lead all selections.

- Process of scouting by U.S. Soccer at games and/or events.

- Coach or Club Director Recommendation.
