Southern Maryland: Lusby/Solomon's Island.

Close to DC and on the Chesapeake Bay. Great location and easy to get to.

This is interesting. Under 500K waterfront

Awful. Baking in the sun with an asphalt back yard.

NP here. The listing says that is the leftover foundation from a previous structure and suggests building a pavilion on it. I agree that is really weird. I also don't understand the dock (doesn't look like a traditional boat or ski lift) and then the listing says you can always pump water there from another part of the property. Does that mean the water isn't deep enough? Hard pass and I like Chester.

For 600k.
Hilarious

Just sell the house in northwest.

still not enough for nice views. that unrenovated AU park house isn't getting more than 1.25. plus that commute from potomac sucks.

Harpers Ferry and the Sperryville area are good suggestions. The new HOV lanes on 66 from 495 to 29 make getting out of the city to the west relatively painless (and free if you've got 3 or more people in the car).

Just mapped it, Georgetown to Deep Creek is 2 hrs and 47 mins at non rush times. You can go 66west to 81 to 48/corridor H. Or 270 to 70 to 68. It’s not a long drive from DC.

And you have all four seasons. Boating/lake in summer, skiing in winter, fall foliage, and spring mud season. Housing prices are coming down in the area and inventory sitting a bit now.

What you won’t have at Deep Creek Lake is access to decent restaurants or activities. We tried DCL a few times. Never again. It’s the kind of place where you need to cook all your meals at home and the only activities are on the lake or skiing. Not my cup of tea.

Can someone do a wellness check on the OP?

Lots of good tips yet no response.

OP didn’t specify decent restaurants in the wish list.

OP wanted property with pretty views, hiking trails and nature. Access to water too. DCL in the mountains with lots of hiking in the area gives them that. Oh and DCL has a rental market if they so chose.

Who in their right mind would want a second home so close to DC?

And a nice property below 600K?

Ha ha ha.
