Dave Grohl, sooo disappointed (had a baby outside of his marriage)

It's hard to deny it if he gets hit with a subpoena for paternity testing

He is claiming paternity. Publicly. A guy who does that is not the guy who would make a woman sue him, etc. He will be in this kid's life. That's the only good in this situation.

I think the idea is that he is publicly talking about it BECAUSE he was forced to do so already...through law suit or otherwise.

Doubtful. Is he going to bring the mistress and child on family outings? If he doesn't get divorced his wife and current family will want nothing to do with that kid

dp Obviously. If I was his wife or daughters it would be a long time before I trusted him again. This half sister is going to be in their lives forever. How painful for everyone.

Dave: What a jerk.

Actually I probably would divorce him effective immediately.

This is probably not the first time. The first time there was a baby, but certainly not the first time he slept around.

But why impregnate someone? He's 55 and should've got the snip after his third child was born.

No. He does not need to be “snipped”. Rich and famous men are pursued. Some women see having a baby with a rich man as a 18-20 year payment in the form of child support. It happens all the time with athletes. Why would it be different for a rock star?

He's been showing some true colors this year. This is why idolizing humans is never a good thing, they will always disappoint.

I wonder if they will guilt the kids into being close to the half sister

I think the girls are minors? They may not have the choice. I understand exactly what you mean.

That he was having sex outside his marriage. Obviously, he's a rock star, with all the trappings that come with that. And perhaps women who are married to rock stars have different rules about fidelity. I'm only talking about his infidelity from my crush perspective.

I’m shocked he didn’t have a vasectomy or use a condom or both! He is a rock star, he is not clueless. Cheating is bad enough but now there is a reminder of the cheating in his wife’s face for the next 18 years. How could he be so stupid?

You mean lifetime. Even adult kids are in their parent's lives..Thanksgivings, graduations, etc

Look he knows what the media climate is. If there were a way to deny paternity and discredit the mom I absolutely think he'd try to do that. Not because he's uniquely bad but because that's what men who cheat on their wives do. If he'd cheat then he's willing to lie to try and have his cake and eat it too. You think he'd treat this woman he fathered a kid with better than his own wife. Nope. He lied to and cheated on his wife with the OW and he'd lie about and try to screw over the OW too.

But he knows that she can get a court order for paternity and that there is nothing to prevent her from going public with it if it comes back positive (which presumably it would -- likely they tested for paternity to confirm privately). It looks much worse for him to be denying it publicly and then have come back as his baby when he knows it's probably his baby. So it's way better from a PR standpoint to disclose it in a statement saying nice things about his wife and daughters and telling people he intends to be a dad to the new baby. That way he controls the narrative and can say "hey at least I didn't lie about it." Nevermind that he lied from the start when he had the affair.

The Ghrols are not inviting that kid over for Thanksgiving or going to their graduation. The kid is going to grow up as a meal ticket for mom with no father

You can't force your kids to like the affair baby. Ask Arnold Schwarzenegger, John Edwards etc I think at least two are minors

Of course. But they will have to interact particularly if there is shared custody

Always saw through his Nicest Guy In Rock persona, seemed over the top. No one is perfect of course but damn, can you imagine what that conversation with his wife and daughters must have been like? So interesting. And then his wife had to live with it for as long or short as she's known. So interested if more will come out about this.

This.

The rest of you are very naive.

But what if they stay together and he shares custody for holidays etc? It isn't the baby's fault!

Why would there be shared custody? Do you think his wife and daughters want to be around a reminder of Dad's affair?
