What is it about me that makes plain clothed security follow me at Target?

Whenever something like this happens I enjoy taking extra long, stopping to browse things on my phone, pretending like I might stuff something in my purse then at the last second swerving to drop it in the basket, etc. Just to wind them up and waste their time.

Just put stuff in your pockets and then take it out at checkout.

Umm no it’s not.
Security cannot arrest you.
Police will not come out unless you have passed where you would pay for items without paying.

NO, do not do this ! Concealing items in a store is adequate probable cause for an arrest--even while still in the store.

OP: Happens all the time in Walgreens & in Target. Both stores view every customer as a shoplifter. It is essentially unwritten company policy for both of these stores.

huh?

He thought you were hot but couldn’t work up the nerve to ask you out.

I shop with my bags and put my items into the bags to carry instead of shopping cart-I do this everywhere! Target, Walgreens, Aldi. I have never been approached or followed but is that wrong to carry a canvas bag and use it as my shopping cart?

This is what I do too. I'm white/I've had people loiter/follow along with me but I am not really looking at them to notice if they are just slow-poking through the $1 section too or actually noticing if I try to steal $1 items. My husband is a POC so doesn't love my reusable bags but if he's with me he just stays far enough away and rolls his eyes.

Sometimes I slow-wander in the most bizarre way when I am killing time... like I went to a Homegoods recently with a full hour to kill and I walked down some aisles 2-3 times as I was getting the vibe for any big items to place on the bottom first, then circle back to smaller/breakables. I am always working/don't get out alone a lot so I tend to lord over my time when I am mall-walking. I always wonder WTF these jobless freaks are out wandering/shopping during the day, so when I can act like one it's a luxury.

I actually agree with a PP who explained how lazy/incompetent the security staff are- that they probably follow lame/boring looking shopper just so they can look like they are working but won't be in any danger of having to engage.

My mom always got frisked in airports. She was a fat white lady who always wore her long tan raincoat and I decided it was the raincoat that made them flag her. I got her to wear a different coat and it happened much less.
