APS Vaping and shagging in bathroom

Co-sign on this. Oh man....the memories. I did a little bit of both hooking up (no shagging though, because ew) and smoking weed, and it was a RUSH. I also did this in FCPS in the 90s, so definitely not a new thing nor an APS thing.

But, having said that, if I heard my kid is doing that today, then SHAME ON THEM AND SHAME ON ME! WHAT KIND OF MESSAGE ARE WE SENDING OUR KIDS!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

You would be fun at parties!

From what I hear, girls are going into the boys giving BJ’s

What is wrong where girls feel compelled to dress scantily and do this???

Very low self esteem. You would be shocked at what a teenage girl will do to get her crushes attention.

The high school girls like to get busy with the boys.....and girls...

Bwhahahahahaha.

Who said anything about rich kids?

"Is this really an issue in APS??" Op asks while clutching her pearls.

We go to APS and aren’t rich, so no idea why you bring that into the discussion.

Are you OP? Are you shocked by vaping?

Bus drivers, extended day attendants, cafeteria ladies, and subs are all relatively cheap and in need of more hours. Put them to work. Rolling patrols, different times every day, massive consequences for misbehavior. Boom, problem solved.

I have been a substitute and no way would I take in assignment monitoring the bathroom. Middle school and high school kids are just as big as me and you want me to confront them on bathroom behaviors?

What do you do when you encounter problem behaviors in the classroom? Would you recommend bringing the cops back? Someone has to be an adult in these situations. Maybe the difference in my upbringing is that my mom would have smacked the crap out of me if I was caught smoking or shagging, instead of hiring a lawyer.

As for shagging (hadn't heard that term in a while, thanks, OP!)... it's much less common than vaping, but yes, it does occasionally happen. And sadly sometimes it's not consensual and leads to sexual assault allegations. See if you can pull the crime log for your school system. I can do that for MCPS.

People are too distracted in APS by trying to ban cell phones. I'd much rather APS spend it's money and efforts on anti vaping.

My high school in the early ‘90s had a little outdoor area for smokers . . .

I rarely encounter problem behaviors as a substitute to be honest. At least none that require more than a redirect or call to a counselor. Many kids like having a sub, it’s an easier period for them. BUT A bathroom monitoring position automatically puts you in a role of a “bad guy”. You’re job isn’t to teach, it’s to look for bad behaviors. No thanks.

They like the look and enjoy sex?

It’s a fifth grade thing too, particularly on the north side. Not going to identify school but there were kids trying to be “too cool for school” with inappropriate behavior, including vaping and “making out”.

I’m under no disillusion that my children have at least heard talk about it since I have as a parent. I’m hope that I’m a good enough parent that my spawn stay out of the scene. Start conversations early, OP!

15 year old girls should not know whether they enjoy sex or not... and sex at that age is generally pretty miserable, at least for women.

You're probably right. However, they are doing it anyway.
