What do your mornings look like now that school has started?

7th grader wakes up at 5:30am to eat breakfast ( pre cooked hard boiled egg, and bread) and do #2 before left home at 6:35 for 6:48 bus. I pack everything (charged laptop, pre packed sandwich/fruit/snack and fill water bottles ) to backpack. 4th grader wakes up between 6:30-7:30am and left home 8:25 for 8:24 bus, same routine except he’s very fast on everything so he has time to do music instrument practice for 10-20 minutes, then he reads a little or just play toys if there’s time left.

We have to leave by 7:30.

6:45 I wake up. Should get out of bed but end up checking email and responding to clients.

7:00 I get up, give DDs warning to get up.

7;00-7:10 I get dressed, make coffee, fill water bottles, put waffles in toaster.

7:10 tell kids to wake up again.

7:15 start yelling for kids to get up

7:20 tell kids if they get out the door by 7:30 they can pick the music for the car ride.

7:20-7:35 follow them around yelling and nagging because if I don’t, they’ll start playing and goofing off

7:40 finally out the door. Eat waffles in the car which get all over the place. Play the most boring podcast in the world as punishment for not getting out on time.

7:45 Stuck in traffic and stressed out. yell at kids that tonight we are all going to bed at 6pm as punishment for being late.

7:50 give into whining about the podcast and play Kidz Bop.

7:55 drop them off right as drop off line is closing up.

Kids wake at 6:45. They get themselves dressed, face washed and brush teeth while I fix breakfast. They meet me downstairs and while they eat, I shower and get dressed upstairs. I make it downstairs then we all get our shoes on and out the door and I drop them off at school. Kids are 2nd and 3rd grade. High schooler is in charge of himself; waking up on time, getting his breakfast and getting on the bus. We all leave out at 7:30 am.

School doesn't start for us for another week but the routine will be unchanged from last year.

6:30 alarm/snooze/respond to client email
6:45 up, shower, makeup, get dressed
7:15-20 wake up kid
7:20-7:50 get kid dressed, brush hair, go downstairs, eat breakfast, feed dog, pack any remaining items in backpack (water bottle, snack)
7:50-7:55 brush teeth, put on shoes, go to car
7:55-8 Pulling out of driveway
8:15 Get to school drop off line
8:30 Finish drop off line, drive downtown

6:30 - I get up, get dressed
6:45 - Pack my lunch, feed the dogs, stuff a bagel in the toaster
7:00 - I'm out the door (I teach at a school that starts at 7:45)

7:30 - DS (10) gets up, gets himself dressed, brushes his teeth, makes himself a bagel or a breakfast sandwich in the microwave while DH showers. Watches tv for a bit while he wakes up
8:00 - DH packs lunches, potties dogs, makes sure backpack is ready to go, crates dogs
8:30 - DH drives DS to school, then heads downtown

Mornings are actually super lazy for them since his school doesn't start until 9 and DS naturally wakes up early. It will be tougher when he goes to middle school and stuff gets earlier.

I’m sorry but I don’t need to know that your 7th grader takes a dump at 6:35am each day. You could have left that detail out. Ugh.

I assumed that was the 4D chess level of trolling.

I thought it’s important not just for my DC so I mentioned. Couple of kids would skip half or entire class daily at school because they don’t have time to do before leave home in the morning, eventually teacher had to put a stop for restroom during class time. In MS you will be marked tardy for it.

Pretty normal for all of FCPS. My DC has friends whose bus pulls up to the stop at 6:35. Ours is closer to 6:45.

All kids bathe at night. Lunches packed at night, backpacks packed at night.

School starts at 7:40. Kids wake up at 7:10, get dressed, brush teeth. They’re waiting at the door at 7:30 and we walk to school. Breakfast is at school. They’re 5 and 7, but this has been going on since daycare days.

(Don’t ask me about bed time routines because that’s a nightmare for us. Morning is just easy)

6:15am I get up
6:30am I wake up kids
6:45-7am downstairs to eat
7:15am brush teeth, shoes, pack bags
7:25am walk to school together

It helps they are in the same school. This is the last year of that SNIFF! 3rd and 5th grades.
