What do your mornings look like now that school has started?

We need to be out the door no later than 7:30am. I wake up at 6am and come downstairs and make sure hot lunches are ready (kids pack their other stuff the night before), start breakfast and put away clean dishes.

Wake up DD1 at 6:30 to go shower and get ready.

Wake up DD2 at 6:45 to get changed and ready.

Wake up DS3 at 6:50ish to get changed.

Everyone downstairs by 7am for breakfast and while they are eating I take the dog out to pee and feed dog.

I feel like I have run a marathon before school and work even starts!

Shower at night for DD1. Otherwise looks like you're doing the best you can.

Its hard. We have to be out at 8:20 for the bus so it's easier. We also get up at 6:30 year round and practice music before breakfast.

School starts on Monday. One kid in ES which starts at 9 (arrival no earlier than 8:40). I get up at 7:30 (I’m a night owl, I’ll never be someone who gets up early if I don’t have to), feed dog, pack lunch, make breakfast and drink coffee.

Kid gets up by 7:50. Sometimes earlier but usually I have to wake her up (also a night owl). She eats and I get dressed. I rush her off tablet to get dressed and brush her hair, pack backpack, leash up the dog and out the door by 8:30 to walk to school.

I’m dreading middle school when we have to get up earlier

School starts on Monday for us, but the only real differences we have are kids showering at night and lunches are either cold or leftovers that can be quickly reheated and put into a thermos container. Same with breakfast, we do pancakes, oatmeal, etc in batches so the only cooking is actually just reheating.

Mine don’t do screens in the morning, but like to lounge in bed. So we’re up at 7:00-7:15 with the goal of being out of the door at 8:00.

We have to be out the door by 7:35. I haven't had any hot lunches to prep for the kids yet (they only do hot lunches sometimes), and we don't have a dog. Those things buy me about 20 minutes of sleep compared to you. Also DDs and I all shower at night - I have curly hair and it's actually easier to do my hair that way.

My kids are also 3rd, 5th, and 7th so I don't have to do all that much to manage their morning except occasionally check they are on track. So that part will get easier too OP.

Not saying it's easy, because it's not.

My kids like to sit around a lot and take a while to eat so I usually get them up at 6:45 to be out the door by 8:20. My elementary schoolers take showers or baths at night usually. I have to be up at 5:40 to make sure my 9th grader is getting up for school and I make lunches and breakfast for my elementary schoolers then.

DP. We don't need to leave the house until 8:20 to be at the bus stop at 8:25, But my 10 yo DD has woken up at 7:00 almost on the dot pretty much every day of her life since she was about 9 months old! Nothing will make her sleep past that. It takes her basically 10 minutes (if that) to get ready because she showers the night before. So, after breakfast, she too practices her instrument in the morning before school. It works for her!

(My younger DD happily sleeps until 7:45.)

When we were at a 9:20 start school, leaving the house at 8:45, we also did music practice before school. Also my kids had a very leisurely breakfast. They tended to wake up between 6:30 and 7 regardless of what we did. It worked well for us and left our evenings free for sports, lessons, and homework.

Now that we have a much earlier start the kids are trying to adjust.
