What do your mornings look like now that school has started?

For the people saying they do instrument practice in the morning, how old are your kids and how long is their morning practice?

Mine is 7 and this year we are trying for 10 minutes of scales in the morning.

At 7 my kids were told to practice each (short) song 3x. I think it took 10-15 minutes.

School starts 9:05-9:20am. I wake up at 8:30 and wake kids up. I go prepare lunch box and easy breakfast items. Kids (6th grade and 3rd grade) eat breakfast 8:45 and they leave house at 9am walking to school.

That's a late start! When do they finish?

5:45 - wake up and hop in shower

6:00 - throw hair in a pony tail, take dog for a quick walk

6:20 - pack lunches (I try to do most of it the night before so it is just throwing stuff in boxes), prep kid breakfast

6:45 - dry hair, put on skincare and very basic make up

7:15 - wake up kids. it take a few minute for my youngest to wake up so we cuddle on the couch for a bit

7:30 - breakfast is served. i sit down with coffee for at least a couple of minutes to chat with them. they eat while I do other stuff to get ready to go to work. get dressed.

8:00 - get kids dressed (k needs help, don't come at me, he has SN). brush teeth, shoes on. style hair. i put my DD's hair up every day in a five min or so hair do, it is our thing.

8:20 - out the door for the bus

then I commute to DC.

These schedules make me feel better about my life. I wake up around 7 to 730. Kids wake up around 730 to 800. We eat, get dressed and leave the house at 845. Im doing the usual stuff like filling water bottles and making sure bags are packed (mine included) but everything else happens at night.

It’s very difficult: my middle schooler is up at 6 AM to catch a 635 bus. I have to make her breakfast and pack her lunch and see her out the door. My elementary schooler gets up between 7 and 730 but he does not get on the bus until 845 so it’s over an hour of him puttering about and asking me to do stuff with him because we do no screens on school days while trying to feed him breakfast and pack his lunch. So by 9 AM I pretty much need nap.

Showers the evening before, all up at 6:30, make breakfast and lunch and out the door at 7:45 for an easy walk to school or the bus. #4 begins preschool mid next week. Then it’s just me and the dog and maybe some peace.

6:45 Make sure kids have gotten up.
7:10 kid 1 out the door
7:25. Kid 2 out door
7:30. Clean up counters/island

Breakfast and lunch on them unless they ask for something specific. Get dressed after they leave or once they’re up.
