He was also a huge jerk IRL, esp towards women.

My favorite role of his was actually when he played Cesar in Asterix. He could be very funny.

I thought he was still handsome as an older man.

Smoking aged him and aged him very quickly. It was a real shame.

Agree his looks went downhill in his forties. Still looks good in his sixties though!

You two are demanding ladies!!!

He was still smoking hot as an "older man" imho.

+1 seriously!!

It's interesting how an actor can be very much an icon of a particular moment in time and a particular place. To me, Delon is an emblem of Paris and Rome in the sixties - the easy elegance, the crisp shirts, the nonchalance, the androgynous beauty, the cigarette, the Mediterranean sun.

Does Anouchka have heterochromia? How interesting.

Anouchka:

She is striking!
The sons, especially Ari, in these poses are trying really hard to capture their father's magic but they don't have "it". They should try to hold their face in a natural pose for them.

His daughter looks a bit like Kate Middleton. Same type.

It must be very very hard to be a son of a man who was so revered for his beauty and so accomplished in his work. Impossible to measure up, especially if you choose the same profession.

I had never heard of him before but that picture totally captures the era you described. Kind of like Jude Law’s character in The Talented Mr. Ripley. Just impossibly cool.

Funny pp says that because Alain starred as Ripley in the 1960 original -- in English, it's titled Purple Noon.

What's REALLY funny is that Delon played Ripley, not Dicky. Can you think of an actor who is better suited to play a rich, carefree, cool, nonchalant, world-is-my-oyster character than him?? Yet he plays the striver, not the cool rich boy.

Ha I’m PP and had no idea!

Apparently he wanted his dog to be euthanized and buried with him if he died first (which he did) and his family had to make a public statement today that they were not following his “last wishes” and that the dog was safe. Yikes.

WTF. Did he fancy himself as some Egyptian pharaoh?

I am not sure but this is kind of crazy. https://www.cnn.com/2024/08/21/europe/alain-delon-family-refuse-dog-burial-scli-intl/index.html

I don't know the age of his Belgian Shepherd. If it were an old dog, then I can understand his wanting them to be buried together.
