RIP Alain Delon

Not well known in the US but an icon of French cinema and some say, the most beautiful man alive when he was in his prime.

A feature in the New Yorker on the nature of beauty using him as an example:

Oh, yes!! So incredibly handsome!!

A symmetrical face and blue eyes paired with dark hair. But a fairly egotistical individual.

I feel like this is true of many movie stars, most men, and some of the women as well.

He was LEGEND. Sigh.

So beautiful. His features were almost too pretty back then. He would be such a star now with his big eyes, small nose and V-shaped jawline

Your comment is way too dismissive for this incredibly handsome and talented actor who succeeded despite a very difficult childhood.

Looking at him, it's a true wonder that he was any kind of actor at all. I mean he walked into a major cinema contract as a nobody from nothing and nowhere, solely on the power of his face. He didn't have to do anything at all other than sit in front of the camera.

The only man who made Mick Jagger insecure.

French person here. He was a God in France in his time. And now we're on to the second day of media coverage of his death. The first day was about his filmographic achievements. And today was about how hot he was, and all the famous actresses he was paired with. I kid you not, 20 minutes of prime time national news about his beauty. Men journalists and historians - straight, not gay - talking about his sex appeal.

This is France for you. Uninhibited.

I was born in the USSR in the seventies and he was worshipped by the women of my generation just like you describe. His name was a benchmark of male beauty known to every Ivan and Masha.

Coincidentally DH recorded a couple of French noir movies...with him in them. So I just saw his amazing face this week...RIP.

Wow. Gorgeous.

Never understood why he spent his lifetime denying paternity of his son Ari, who had had with Nico. Ari looked just like him and was even raised by Delon's mother. Poor guy suffered from drug problems his entire life and eventually died of a heroin overdose.
