No they are not. JFC. Dairy is from a cow.

I know olives are technically a fruit but is that in her allergy list?

No meat, dairy, or fruit. She has allergies to many things found in highly processed foods. Absolutely no citrus, no tomatoes, nothing vinegary like olives or pickles. No nuts, seeds, or dried seaweed. Absolutely not even a speck of chili powder.

Anyone have ideas? Thank you!

DP, but olives do not have to be “vinegary”. Many types are packed in oil or ferric chloride solution and not vinegar laden at all.

Olives are also a pitted fruit, though. Maybe go back and read all of the first post.

It doesn’t say pitted fruit, just mentions olives specifically due to vinegar. It wasn’t mine, but I think it’s a fair suggestion.

Also, “fruit” is a big umbrella. Culinary or botanical fruit?

Some people with oral fruit allergy are fine with cooked fruit, so that also could change the suggestions.

DP. Calm down. The first OP is so so very restrictive. People are being surprisingly helpful but this can only be so helpful given all these restrictions. I do think this is a special case and the OP/person with the restrictions needs to go to a nutritionist or dietician to figure this out. There are just too many variables.

The allergic person got the OP doing her legwork. This way she can just sit back, moaning softly, and reject anything OP suggests. Nicely done.

Roasted chickpeas

Are peanuts off limits since they are actually a legume and not a nut? If she could eat peanut butter that opens up a lot of options

Ack, you had that one already

Yeah, this is tough with low carb and all those restrictions. As others have said, make sure she is discussing the diet with someone. It sounds a little extreme although I know people who’ve had to do pretty restrictive diets for a while. This one just isn’t matching up with most I’ve heard of, like for example low fodmap which is restrictive but not this restrictive.

Is the no meat part of the diet or is this person also a vegetarian? If the latter I’d really encourage incorporating at least fish and chicken for more options.

Not low carb 🙄

(Not your fault - it’s a great suggestion!)

What did you end up making, OP? Was your friend thankful?

Kale chips.

When I was on my kale chip roll, I also experimented with other veggies, including spinach and zucchini.
