is Georgetown ever going to revise their FA situation?

All the privates are getting like this. Free tuition (almost) for everyone under $125-150k and everyone over pays in full. Most T20s have rich and poor. Those that can afford it without aid and those who come from a low income to be able to get needs-based aid. Donut hole has gotten bigger and more MC/UMC being cut out of ability to send kids to private due to tuition becoming $85k-100k/year. Now even the in-state schools are expensive for many families--$40k, etc.

Dount hole is an excuse for rich people not willing to make financial sacrifices to pay for college. Here's an idea, real middle class don't send their kids to colleges that they cannot afford or they take loans.

Look, we made the sacrifices. We are full-pay. Very happy to be able to pay for my kids and allow them to choose anywhere.

But, I sure as hell can gripe about the inflated cost of college tuition (everyone should be griping about this) with in-state approaching $40-50K at VA top publics all-in and privates $85k-100K/year.

Everyone should be angry about that.

You are extremely wealthy if you can full pay so stop complaining.

They really hit you hard for home equity and give almost no leeway with two kids in college at same time.

Georgetown with two kids would cost me 180k a year. Williams could cost me 70k. And there others are closer to Williams.

This is true of the FAFSA, as well, now, so nothing unusual in college admissions

But, many CSS colleges still consider this. OP is right to look for it at a private school. Even Drexel still considered it.

As long as Georgetown's Net Price Calculator is accurate, not much to complain about. Don't apply if it isn't affordable.

A few anomalies here.
Very few colleges have free tuition for families close to 150k. Definitely a bunch if under 100k.
But all these are middle class. I love how the wealthy are trying to reinvent themselves as the real middle class, and those of us under 150k are "poor." Good grief. Look to QB for guidelines on low income (under 70k).

The schools that Georgetown pretends it competes with are largely free to kids from families making 150k

A cop married to a teacher in DC is going to be pushing 200k in hhi. I guess you consider those wealth professions?

It’s true that some schools come in lower on financial aid packages, so they can turn to their full pay WL without budget concerns.

That way they can say they offered a record number of admittances with record breaking financial aid, knowing that many won’t accept and they’ll go to full pay WL.

This is a tried and true policy at several schools with less than generous aid.

Well, there is both ROTC and the free or nearly free community college than transfer route. Most dcum families are I willing to consider either.

+1 Apply where you can afford to go. Look at public flagships, community college, ROTC

Yep. That was my point. Cost of living isn’t factored into aid which is one of the biggest fails of the system.

You are part of the problem. Everyone should be complaining and lobbying for a change.

They can do that, but Georgetown has steadily dropped in the rankings and their financial aid policies are one of the reasons. It doesn't help that their per capita endowment is pathetically low and they probably could not afford to be need blind and generous with aid

DP. Lobby for change by opting for public. Are you willing to do this?

Let them figure it out. If they cared about it, they’d change it.

Complaining does nothing. Live in the system we’ve got and find options instead of whining.

I'm not whining, I'm enjoying their slip into irrelevance.

Yeah, their ever-rising acceptance rate is a sign of their slip into irrelevance. (/sarcasm)
