If you recommend coffee from TJ's you know nothing about coffee.

You’re just a snob. What’s your claim to being a coffee authority?

I'm not a snob. OP wants the best. TJ's does not have it.

Beans that are recently roasted are tasty. TJ's does not have recently roasted beans.

They taste perfectly okay and you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference in a blinded test.

Dark roast is not suitable for all varieties.
Overdark like Starbucks just tastes dark and you don't taste the actual bean.
Read and learn.
George Howell did Coffee Connection in. Cambridge over 40 years ago. Sold to Peets. Now has own small business. Read the varietal description and roasts offered for each. Fast shipping

The Dota is a low risk start.

I ordered Kona for 30 years but weather changed and the coffee I used to buy is imo meh and too meh for $50 a pound. I will investigate next trip.

But Howell really expands horizons.

I have been using dark roast beans in my Jura ENA8 for 4 years. No problems at all. I use La Colombe dark roast and it's my absolute favorite. I clean and maintain the Jura according to the manufacturer's instructions (which doesn't include using Grindz or anything like it) and I've had zero issues.

Another vote for La Colombe dark roast & a vacuum-sealed storage container.

We like Peet's whole bean dark roast coffee. It is not burnt like the Starbucks dark roast. Be sure to look at the side of the bag for the date when buying - or buy from a Peet's store and ask them for the roasting date.

I like Zekes too. And it’s recently roasted at farmers markets or via mail order or local delivery.
