It is possible to periodically clean the grinder by using a product called Grindz, but that requirement can be avoided if you limit yourself to less oily medium or to light roasts; use other brewing methods when you want a dark roast, e.g., Aeropress or a SCA-certified brewer.

I have enjoyed whole beans from Black Rifle Coffee, Electric City Roasting, and others, but find the most economical way to purchase whole beans is through Costco. While their in-warehouse selection is limited, they offer many more options on-line.

If you buy largers bags of whole beans, you might like to use a vacuum-sealing storage container, to keep the beans fresh longer. I use containers made by Airscape, available in different sizes from amazon.

I have been using dark roast beans in my Jura ENA8 for 4 years. No problems at all. I use La Colombe dark roast and it's my absolute favorite. I clean and maintain the Jura according to the manufacturer's instructions (which doesn't include using Grindz or anything like it) and I've had zero issues.

For reference, I make about 4 cups a day on average for the past four years, so I use it heavily.

I am very happy with my Airscape coffee canisters. I use a small one for the week and put the rest in a larger one. I get mail order coffee from George Howell.

If you recommend coffee from TJ's you know nothing about coffee.

You’re just a snob. What’s your claim to being a coffee authority?

My favorite coffee is from TJs.

I'm not a snob. OP wants the best. TJ's does not have it.

Beans that are recently roasted are tasty. TJ's does not have recently roasted beans.

I like dark roast only so that’s going to disqualify me from the definition of “best” by a lot of coffee snobs!

That said - my go to is boring old Starbucks French Roast which you can get at Costco in big bags. I go through it fast enough that I don’t bother with the airtight canister. I like it more than the Kirkland brand. Mayoraga is good but still prefer the ‘bucks.

On the budget side, the Amazon Fresh beans are suprisingly decent, better than TJs.

I like Zeke's best. We prefer the Tell Tale Dark roast in a French press, but their lighter blends are good too.

Mayorga fans, where do you buy yours? Do they still have bricks-and-mortar shops? I used to love their coffee at their Silver Spring location but they dropped off my radar after it closed.

I love the Counter Culture big trouble beans in my Miele automatic espresso machine. I find I can get a recent roast date at Takoma Bev Co.Separately my spouse drinks pour over and we have a subscription through a company called Trade that sends us freshly roasted beans from small batch roasters/coffee shops across the country. We filled out a profile with what flavors we liked. We started the subscription in 2020 to not have to leave the house to buy beans so often and it won us over with the fun variety of trying little coffee shops all over the country that we’d never get to try in person.
