| That sounds gross OP. Just buy a few avocados. Cheaper and better. |
Like I said, having a perfectly ripe avocado on hand is not a sure thing. All these other breakfast items are typical and usually found in most American households. OP's house guest is being difficult. #gavel. |
| Unless it’s my niece or nephew I wouldn’t indulge this request. If I’m making it however I’d use fresh avocado. |
Are you equally outraged at ALL fresh produce requests? Or is JUST avocados? |
|
I hope you really like this guest! That’s a pretty bold breakfast request!
But no, guacamole on toast is gross. Even those pre-mashed avocado cups are not the same, but I guess ok in a pinch. I buy them occasionally if I want to heat up some frozen taquitos for my kids after school, but wouldn’t put them on toast. If you’re going to the store anyway to get this stuff, just get some actual avocados. If you haven’t bought them before, maybe ask someone for help. They should be just a little bit soft. If they are all rock hard, put them in a paper bag with some apples and bananas. I usually buy avocados a couple days ahead, but I have definitely found ripe ones in the store too. |
| Avocado toast is so easy to make! I wouldn’t get bent out of shape over this. I would use real avocado. |
| I just use guac or mashed avacado from the deli section for this for myself. That may be all they are expecting. Dcum is pretty finicky. |
What a truly bizarre take, no wonder so many people on DCUM seem to struggle with normal social interaction. They requested some produce, the remnants of which could be easily composted. You go out and go off script buying them a whole bunch of prepacked single use plastic cups and somehow they should feel guilty about that? |

Guac is fine but it's not avocado toast. Avaco toast has a lot of avocado, and that amount of guac would by grossly tangy.
You also need a lot of avocados 🥑 on hand in order to have one correctly ripe for avocado toast the morning you serve it. |
|
I'd be wary of the suggestion to get frozen avocados. I've tried frozen avocados and frozen guac and neither were good.
I do find whole foods fresh guac pretty good and would like it on crusty bread with a fried egg if plain avocados were not available. But I would never request it from a host! |
| Look for individual packs of mashed avocado. Perfect for one serving and usually only seasoned with light salt and pepper. Sam’s club carries it, probably WF too |
|
WF guac I'd be fine with.
Kids might be picky. Most adults would be expecting avocados. |
+1 Avocado toast is not supposed to be spicy either. Just mashed avocado and your own toppings. |
+1 My kids make it themselves. Why are people acting all offended by this? It's no different than bagels and cream cheese or peanut butter on an English muffin. Something you toast + something you spread on top. |
