If house guests request avocado toast, is it okay to use Whole Foods guacamole?

What’s easiest for you!

We love avocado and have it on hand. I squish avocado slices on my toast and put whatever topping I happen to be in the mood for that day. I’ve never bought ready made guac, but if that’s easier for you, then by all means!

OP guacamole will not work. Get a few avocados the day before they come, if you want to. They can make the toast, if they want.
+1 I'd have good, thick bread on hand. Tell them you've never made it; show them the ingredients and your spice drawer and let them have at it. This does not seem like a big deal.

Buy avocados. Get them several days before since they are often rock hard in the grocery store. Once they start to soften you can store in the fridge to stop further ripening. Mashing an avocado is about as easy as opening a package of guac. Use a bowl and a fork.

I don’t eat it, but why the outrage about avocado toast? It seems pretty easy. I’d rather have a specific, easy request than “oh, whatever is fine.”

If these guests don't like cilantro but request avocado toast...

where does the op say they will use cilantro?

op I do eat avocado toast and I prefer avocado. Can't you buy a few avocado a few days before the guests come so they are ripe?

Totallly disagree. Premade guac is gross. I would not want that on toast.

The Whole Foods in-house kind seems to be made pretty regularly. Maybe daily? I'm not sure. It's like $10 or 12 for a container of it.

Cilantro if often an ingredient in prepared guac.

It's actually not easy. I buy avocados often, and most of the time you have to wait for them to ripen. So it's tricky to just have a perfectly ripe avocado on hand.

Easy breakfasts include cereals, eggs done a million different ways, toasts with jams, pancakes, yogurt, etc. I would not request an avocado toast without knowing that the host makes it regularly. It kind of screams tone deafness.

Avocado toast is so bland. Good guac elevates the toast.

Avocados are so finicky. I'd never offer this to a guest unless I was pretty damn sure the avocado was perfect.

You’d rather make pancakes and eggs than avocado toast? I think it fits fine in your list as an option. Cereal and milk, yogurt, all require specific tastes that I’m sure I’d have to find.

I try to accommodate my guests but I they would getting something from the store at my house. I have never successfully prepared avacados (or fish) and after 30 years in the kitchen I simply don't buy them anymore.

It would be Aldi's guacamole in my house.

It’s convenient because you don’t have to worry about selecting one that’s ripe, cutting it up, or dealing with the leftovers before they oxidize. I would think it would work for avocado toast, too, but as I said, I’m not very familiar with avocado toast.

Who asks for avocado toast as a guest?

Frozen avocado? That sounds so unappealing.

NP - You're missing out. They are always perfectly light green and ripe. Just pull them out a bit before you need them and mash away.

OP, whole food guac sounds great and more than generous. If your guests turn their nose at that, they can just have.... toast.

No. Get some of those avocado smash things in the plastic cups. Every grocery store should have them. Then passively aggressively guilt trip your guests into generating so much plastic waste.
