20yo DD addicted to piercings

Anonymous wrote:DD recently came home from college and I am shocked by the amount of piercings She has gotten. I counted seven on one ear, five in the other, and a nose stud. But worse, was almost sure I could see both nipples were pierced when She was in a swimsuit. I know it's Her choice, but I think it's excessive, and nipple piercings are plain gross.
How can I respectfully share my displeasure?
Anyone dealt with a similar situation ?

She sounds bored and has a lack of real goals. She’s so bored and aimless she’s just getting piercings and body art.

Though that amount of them is kind of turning the corner to appeal to fringe society

You can share it with your diary.

Buy her good body jewelry so her nips don’t get infected.

Why should the mom buy the jewelry?

The piercings aren't the problem. Her mental health crisis is.

A mother has a right to try to help her daughter.

Sound like how I came home from college. They're fun and not permanent. Ears and nose are totally mainstream at this point. And nipples are usually hidden - maybe not at the pool, but not much is covered at the pool. These aren't things that will prevent her from getting a job or anything.

I turned out to be a totally mainstream suburban mom, who is glad I had a little fun back in the day.
