another MCPS survey: Superintendent feedback form

The problem is that students rush through to get that dopamine reward and the work is poorly done.

It's all about checking a box, that's it. Empty messages, word salads - all of it is just checking a box. Sad state of MCPS.

Get rid of MS advisory. Waste of time. More time for students to be on phones. No one gives a dhit about social emotional learning when it doesn't work for this age group. Teachers don't care to administer SEL lessons.

Even worse, this is where many schools introduce far left ideology.

Don’t send one with your kid. Problem solved. They will just do social media through their chrome book.

Is that why NYC just banned phones in schools? Surprised they didn’t take your advice and just tell parents not to send one with their kid

My kid has a phone for my needs, not theirs. When I take it away, they just use the school chromebook at school. They can access all sorts of things. Teachers need to start teaching vs. relying on videos, etc and bring back regular textbooks vs. online.

Our school did it three times a week - and it was just video game playing time.

Our MS has it daily for 27 minutes and it’s torture for the students and adults. It’s a fight to get the kids that are missing work to go to the teachers that have requested them during this time and it’s tough to get the rest of the students to do anything other than mess around on their Chromebooks or skip altogether. Would rather they extend elective periods and pull out the kids missing work then. Or even pull them out during lunch! That will motivate more kids to turn stuff in on time and do their best the first time on an assessment.

Got the first email from the new superintendent. If you haven't completed the survey, you still can.

"As of this writing, 1,067 students, staff and parents have shared their thoughts."
You can read the comments here: Superintendent Feedback Form (responses)

Pick a keyword you are interested in and use ctrl-f (find) to see the variety of responses. Plenty of interesting things to consider. It will be interesting to see a summary of the data and discussion at a future BOE meeting.

Looks like they locked the spreadsheet down.

Why aren't we surprised? Now they can say we were transparent and wanted to hear from families. But we don't need anymore feedback.

I can open it on my phone - view only. I’m not logged in to anything MCPS.

When I looked at it yesterday, it had identifying information including people's phone numbers out there for all to see. I was in my principals office when Dr. Taylor's apology email to principals came through. Is he going to send one out to the general public, including those whose personal info was published for all to see?

I looked at it immediately and there were no phone numbers? It was an anonymous Google Forms survey, how would it even collect phone numbers?
